Hello, I've been on Lamictal 200 mg for about 6-7 months. At first, I noticed some improvements but it quickly faded away. Is 200 mg enough for noticeable improvement? I've heard the dosage can go up to 500-600 mg.
Oh I take Paroxetine 20 mg with it.A "respons" very early in a treatment that goes away is very likely placebo. The trails done in London was very small but they found no benefits of lamotrigine as mono therapy but recommended it combined with either a SSRI or SNRI. Their dose was between 2-300.mg but some benefited in doses as high as 500.mg. So, if you don't take an SSRI or SNRI now try to start it up and increase lamotrigine to 300.mg.
It is a very common experience that lamotrigene triggers reduction in dpdr symptoms on dosage increase but the effect fades again. This is by no means a placebo as so many dp dr sufferes can relate to this and does not have this experience with other meds which would also have that effect in case it was placebo.A "respons" very early in a treatment that goes away is very likely placebo. I know of several people who have been taking only lamotrigine to control derealization and their symptoms are fully controlled as long as they take it.Why it works in some cases better than others is just a matter of the underlying cause of their derealization. And the dosage is usually between 225 and 300mg.It is a very common experience that lamotrigene triggers reduction in dpdr symptoms on dosage increase but the effect fades again.
