i need the inner emotional drive to do things for my real life. success at business, feeling of reward after a hard business day, enjoying food and traveling, enjoying music, getting angry about people i dont like or who wish bad for me..

if all of this was exist, i would not care about all the other symptoms because i know this from experience of my first episode of dpdr..

I know what you are talking about, bro, but I don't see a direct solution to this problem and after almost a decade I have lost almost all of my hope.

Do you have fear of things outside of your DP, i took my bike out for the first time in years today. Just to get out of the house and focus on something else.

I'm normally a cautionary person but I let loose a little, bombing down a hill with the wind in my face released so much adrenaline, in a positive way.

It got me thinking we can still feel fear and adrenaline so surly we have the ability to feel reward or success?

I'm out of work (sick) currently and want to get back more than anything

i dont know most of the time i dont focus on my symptoms because i do have a lot of important real-life shit to handle. i feel then still disconnected and all of the other shit but my mind does focus on the more important problems.

sure, i can feel sometimes anger and fear. but it is no more how i was used to it. the feelings from the past were more automatic. everything was connected together and i felt an automatic schedule for my life.

I think the reason people try to focus on "real" things is to establish that habit, rather than being lost in thoughts.

What we do is, or becomes, habitual, so I think it's reasonable to assume that if we're always thinking about dissociation then that's what's there. Maybe if we always think about what we want - reconnection, with body then environment - then it can come about.

What I mean by this is: when you look at your hand, don't say, "what is this?" Instead, feel it as yours. If we think this way, instead of always looking for oddities, it might be beneficial.

Just thinking aloud
