ketamine / detached

im not knowledgable at all when it comes to drugs but today i was watching a tv programme about drugs and its effects...the guy on there said that ketamine gives you a feeling of being detached from your body...now im just wondering if this is the case what effect does ketamine have on the brain to cause this detachment (dp)

I beleive that Ketamine actually increases the available amounts of glutamine, as well as glutamate, glycine, and aspartate, among others. I was just reading a study done on Ketamine "victims". Some pretty bad stuff. In any event, this is why Lamictal was tried, because it limits glutamine activity, which would seem to counter any experience Ketamine-like. Or that, at least, is how the argument goes.
