Well...looks like I've come back from a good couple of months with yet another problem.

I don't expect many people here will be able to help with this particular issue, but I like to vent and rant occasionally so I thought I'd go right ahead anyway.

This time it's something I've had before. Pain in the left eye, with drooping in the eye, puffiness in the eye, etc...24/7. I've had it before, but I never really knew what it was, and it always took weeks or months before it ever went away.

Fortunately, I no longer get suicidal when these things come on (as I did last time). But I can never but get frustrated when health issues come arise. It's something you can't understand, that doesn't go away, and which you can't deal with through effort, courage, hard work, or in fact any means of your own.

At least I'm in a bad enough mood not to get turned away from the Doc on Monday when he inevitably tries to send me off with a pack of painkillers.

Ah well...I knew I'd find some excuse to rant lol. It's been awhile,

I feel for you man. It's as if life always finds some difficulty and keeps us at bay. I wish to send warm wishes to you and yours. Try to cope with this as best as possible. If DP has left you, you can begin to examine your life a bit more and make decisions that are more resourceful. Of course, coping with any illness is a bit of a diffuclty for all of us. I suggest to keep hope alive and never give up! Use any difficulty as a sign that it's time to face it and accept it. I find that acceptance itself can aid to cure whatever illness you may be coping with.

Best wishes,
Uni

Yo Monkster!

Well, INTERESTING! I also have had pain in my left eye, its not BAD pain, but it IS there, intermittently, like it just feels not quite and right as my other eye, NOW, naturally these things are best to get checked out, ideally by your optician/opthamologist, but I have been doing allot of research myself into symptoms, as after several doctors visits I have not had much of a decent diagnosis from anybody yet about the many symptoms I have been experiencing, and I hold much hope that pretty much all of my symptoms are Stress/Anxiety/Depression related.

So one of the things I came across which also AMONG other things makes some sense, is TMJ (look it up on the net) notice if you hold much tension in your jaw, do some research into it, but some of the symptoms include headaches, ear pain, stuffiness in the ears, eye pain, blurred vision, etc etc, now these symptoms can mean allot of things, as I am beginning to find out symptoms can be the same for so many different things, however for me this makes some sense because I have indeed got discomfort in my eye, tension headaches, mild dizziness (specially when I lie down on my sides) I have had stuffiness in my ears (like pressure) etc etc, now, this results due to the TM Joint being located VERY close to the inner ear I believe, so if you hold tension in your jaw (examples, clenching or grinding teeth) you may have something to do with that, I have no idea of course, but its something worth thinking about, just whack in "TMJ eye pain" into google and see what you come up with, if it seems unlikely for you, then no problem, maybe you have a bit of an infection etc, or it is stress/anxiety related, because as we know stress/anxiety can manifest itself in so many physical symptoms its quite remarkable.

as for me TMJ may be a cause of some of my problems because when I had my tonsils out, they damaged the TM Joint and since then (since I was 7) my jaw has never been right, it clicks etc and crunches when I bite/chew/open my mouth wide, and since I had all this stress and anxiety I have been really holding lots of tension in my jaw, which may well have brought out the problem, I am having it checked out next week.

Always it is best to get checked out by a professional should any symptoms persist.

Pain in the eye should be investigated, not covered up with painkillers, so if he tries that, tell him you'll sic Sojo on him.

I sometimes, when I'm overtired or tensed, get a twitch in my left eyelid. I asked my regular physician about it and he said, "Stress."

But "pain"? You have to get that checked out. When you say "eye," I am thinking you mean the eye itself and not the lid or the skin around it, so definitely you need an exam. Is your vision all right? And when you say puffy, do you mean the skin and the lids?

I hope to God it's stress, MD!

Thanks for all the input and help for the evil one lol.

I had my eyes checked not so long ago for a separate problem, which thankfully is gone now. But basically the eye itself is fine. Nothing obviously wrong with it anyway.

It could be dry eye, could be something muscular, something migraine realted...I dunno.

It's not just stress, but it makes me get in enough of a stress to not get sent back from the Docs again with more painkillers. I've got work tomorrow, but should be in there ranting on Monday.

Oh well...could be worse I guess.

Ill say again, that Stress resulting in tension in certain muscle groups, specially neck and face, can cause eye pain, naturally you must ALWAYS get it checked out, fully, but I have had blood tests, and two trips to two different opticians in the last week, and they have both said apart from being a tad short sighted in my left eye which I have probably been forever (so they say) both my eyes are really healthy. SO why have I got pain/discomfort in my left eye? I am hoping STRESS! I guess when I have my neurologists appointment I will find out for sure. (trembles..) :(

Do not underestimate the power of stress and its manifestation into physical pain in various places on the body, differing from individual to individual, as to where they have tendencies to hold tension in muscles.

Like you say Monkeydust, it's probably something quite easy to sort, a muscle problem, an infection, something like that.

But just to make sure, follow my lead. I have such a plethora of minor physical and mental problems, that I'm going to give up and (like Enigma) live as a brain in a jar and be pumped with nice drugs. Problems sorted. Just make sure the rent is paid up before you jump in.
