going to social event and I don't usually drink at all so I've never worried about it but I may want to have 1 this weekend and am currently taking 40mg of paxil, will one be OK or do you suggest don't take the risk?

I have read with most antidepressants that drinking one beer while on them is like drinking two. I guess that could be used to your advantage if you think about it (just joking). I can only say that the couple of times I have had hangovers while taking Effexor they were twice as bad as the ones I have had when not on anything. Just be careful.

A couple of drinks would be fine. Heavy drinking interferes with seretonin and all sorts of other guff in your brain, so unless you are prepared for the mother of all hangovers and increased DR/DP, limit it to a few gentle sharpeners.
