is DP/DR an advanced level of symbolization?

"Symbolization" in greek is a mental processing examined by psychology. I don't know if it remains the same in english. Therefor, I will try to give of a small example to make sure that I used the correct term.

I young person is shocked talking about sex. Therefor he/she gets into a state of symbolization (not conciously) and manages to talk about it without any difficulty (this example is actually taken from a book).

I do not know, but it sounds like the word you are calling "symbolization" is "dissociation" in English. NOT sure, but that makes sense in the context of the example you gave.

I finaly had the chance to know. Of course it has been several weeks, but as with many things I was way too lazy do resply. Finaly I forced myself and posted.

"Symbolization" is the old term usef for "Dissociation".

Do you think that it is? An advanced of Dissociation? Getting way over the standard level of Dissociation?

I don't know about the symbolization part, but dp is part of the dissociation spectrum:

(1) Normal dissociation - (2) depersonalisation - (3) Dissociative amnesia/fugue - (4) Post traumatic stress disorder - (5) Dissociative disorder not otherwise specified - (6) Dissociative identitydisorder

of course it is and my advice is...
to keep symbolisms of your life as much as possible...
that's how i was hidding from myself before i had my mental crash down..
making symbolisms out of everything and not making sense.
jut avoid overanalysing and try to keep it real
it might help you remember your real self...
using symbols for me is a form of depression
because using symbols you can't express yourself
clearly and no-one can judge you
now that i write about it i think that maybe that is what dp
means for me... hidding in a cute form of art... that makes sense. also
other people can't hurt me this way..

anyway
a quote from someone that i don't remember
is that dp is too much sanity TOO MUCH SANITY
i completely agree with that!
