Introduction to my depersonalization

Hi everyone! I'm Julia, I'm a 17 year old girl who has been continuously depersonalizing since I was 9. My depersonalization never goes away, there are times where it's more heightened and there are times were it's not as bad but honestly I'm getting sick of it. I just figured out what it is, for a long time I thought I was going insane (I still think like that) and I feel like I'm "loosing myself". I don't want to loose myself. I want to feel like an actual human being again. I'm afraid that I'll depersonalize so much that I'll be lost forever or go into a catatonic state. So I guess I'm here for support and tips on how to stop depersonalizing. If anyone would like to share how they have overcome it or got it to stop PLEASE DO. It's nice to know that I'm not alone and other people are out there with this. Please leave tips or treatments that have worked for you. Thanks guys

Welcome to the site. :)

You're definitely not alone. Feel free to check out some great resources from our other members:

I'm sure you've already checked those out, but I thought I would link them for you anyway.

The biggest thing that helped me recover was looking at what I could do physically before anything else. I made sure that I was getting enough sleep, eating properly, and working out the best of my ability. Sometimes that was difficult, but just taking those small steps had a great impact on my life. I also had some blood tests done, which is something I would recommend for everyone. A blood test can be really revealing of your health - one of the biggest things on my results was that I was low in Vitamin D. Solving that was a big help.

I also have a lot of experience with therapists. Even simple talk therapy can really, really help the overwhelmed mind. Have you considered going to one? For me personally, it really helped my anxiety and depression, which cycled back to help my depersonalization as well.
