i was talking to one of my customers, and we got onto the subject of mental disorders, she said oh my brother had this thing where he smoked a joint and thought he had schiz for about 4 years, perfect quick discription of dp, i just chuckled to myself. Has anyone ever met or heard of other people in real life having dp? oh and i remember when i was younger i went to the doc and explained how i felt and he told me some bloke smoked pot and was ill for a very long time .. im guessing that poor chap had a case of the heeby jeebeys. jay

I have never heard anyone I've even known mention DP. No one seems to know it exists. I think the general public would pity us, and I hate pity. I'd rather live with my little secret.

I have had panic attacks many times, but my first shocking and real bout of DP/DR started with weed. Since that time in 1991 i have had relapses that last for months. I would say about once ever 5 years.

I have not met anyone face to face that has this disorder, but i cant wait for the the day. I should start a local support group and see who comes.

You'd be surprised how many people have neurotic complaints. I know people who have experienced transient panic attacks, and one person (outside of this board) who has DP. It's not as uncommon as you might think, sadly.
