If Dp/dr is not from anxiety, can people still recover? I keep reading about dissociative attacks and how they don't really come from anxiety and it has me traumatized. I'm here thinking I'm doomed and I'm going to stay like this forever.. THIS SUCKS!

Really? I Mean that's usually whats being said. Trauma and anxiety.

Good habits and distraction can get pretty much everyone out of it sooner or later, i would say.

Hello,

DP/DR is caused by anxiety if it starts with a traumatic experience (comorbidity), so yes it is perfectly related for a lot of people here and removing stress while having a well balanced life is the solution in that case.

If not anxiety it can also be induced by either some psychic imbalancement (most people experience dp or dr at some point in their life, they just don't necessarilly realize it and it can be benefic in order to seperate themselves from any form of stress for a while). I now remember experiencing what now seems to be dp once (but no dr), it lasted a week (about 2 years ago), it was one of the best experience of my life, I felt constantly happy and motivated while not really feeling anything, I guess it might have been cause by a small dose of ecstasy I took a few weeks before.

Other than that I'v heard it can be caused my meditation as well, for it detaches you from your own awareness. It's important to remain focus on your life and what you do / percieve when you have dp / dr (except stressfull thoughts of course).

I just don't know why I'm stuck like this for 6 months when I have a happy life.

Exactly! Me too. Like I'm sitting here relaxing and I am fighting off Dp/dr attacks. I don't feel anxious at all. This is hard. I have so many unanswered questions. I need this damn hell to leave me alone
