That is my biggest main symptom - loss of identity, loss of sense of self?

How do you get your identity back? I know it is always there (so to speak), but how do you connect to it again?

I don't have DR, everything around me is normal, it is just me that doesn't feel normal, I don't detach from my body (i.e. looking at myself from the outside), my body feels like it is mine, it is my mind that is wrong, it is like I feel foreign to myself, a stranger.

I have been getting a bit better each day, but I never seem to reach the finish line. I have had this bout of DP/identity confusion for over 19 weeks now.

So advice please on how to connect to my identity again?

Your thoughts would help.

Thank you

i think the only way to get better apart from the obvious

good diet
exercise
sleep

is to keep trying to focus away from your own awareness, its tough but it seems to be the only way out

So am I right in saying, if you keep focussing outwards and away from yourself, you will eventually connect with your identity again and the DP will go?

I have no nerves or anxiety today, and feel quite normal, but not quite right, thus the issue of who I am still bothers me.

So if I ignore the DP, it should subside until it is gone??

Is this right

Distraction, distraction, distraction!

If I don't think about it the symptoms are less intense.

Think about it and you're back in DP/DR land. Trying to think yourself back into yourself also doesn't work, it just augments the misery.

Mipmunk, I've told you this before. Your personality doesn't vanish because of DR/DP, however chronic. Your attitudes towards somethings might change, when you recover, but your personality is virtually hard-wired into your brain. Don't worry about it.
