He talks about writing about your past, writing "As if" letters to those who abused/neglected you. He talks about writing your life story, a coherent narrative that focuses on your emotional needs. Okay, I'm down to do all that.. but how am I supposed to do anything if I feel cut off from myself, memories, and emotions? As Pete Walker writes in his book, "Dissociation deadens verbal ventiliation." So if I'm dissociated there's nothing I can do.. my mind is just blank and I have no emotions. I've been exercising/eating healthy/getting good sleep for the past 3 1/2 weeks and I definitely feel less tired and numb so maybe I just have to keep going at it idk. I'm planning on taking nootropics like lions mane/ cordyceps/ rhodiola/ bacopa/ uridine+alpha gpc/ racetams to increase memory and promote neurogenesis. I've been pretty productive this November in trying to live the hunter gatherer lifestyle and I'm pretty proud of my progress. If I do this for 2 months+ and nothing happens I'd be pretty disappointed.
Therapy is definitely pointless/a waste of money if I'm chronically dissociated. So how did Harris Harrington apply his methods while in DP/DR? He says he started writing an "as if" letter to his Dad in a cafe and he couldn't stop shaking as he was writing it. Well I can open a word document and start typing, "To Mom," but then my mind is just blank. He doesn't talk about using drugs and he says to exercise, eat healthy, practice relaxation/meditation, get enough sleep. So how long did he do this for? Am I just being impatient? I know brain changes take time but maybe I need the help of psychedelics or an opioid antagonist.
