Does anyone else get these feelings :?:

I can be feeling fine one minute, and then all of a sudden I can get the darkest cloud from the sky hovering over me. Best I can describe it is " The lull before the storm feeling", the sort of feeling that you get just before you're about to get a huge panic attack. This feeling lasts for quite a while though and can be constant for about an hour or so. The physical symptoms I get when feeling this way are:

1. As if someone has just sucked all the blood out of me and I feel completley drained.
2. Empty stomach feelings
3. Sweaty palms.

panic attacks are something everyone will get in their life.

However, panic disorder sounds like what you have. Usually caused because it happened so often, you fear getting a panic attack.

Panic attacks come from fear in the first place, so if you fear a panic attack, the fear will lead to a panic attack and just keep going around and around like that.

Remember, you can and will get out of a panic attack, stop being afraid of them and know that you can overcome them. Eventually they will lessen to the extent that you barely get thema gain

From my experience I don't think you have that much control over the panic. You may help yourself a little during the attack but it has a mind of it's own. Someday I feel like superman and nothing can shake me. Other days when my grounding is fragile any subtle negative or fearful thought makes my world implode. I still can't determine why that happens but I do know that any extra stress on my nervous system makes it worse (lack of sleep / poor diet / work pressure / drinking too much).

Milan,

You do have control, but you have to learn to exercise it. When the first sign appears, you need to tell yourself, "This is not going any further than what I'm feeling now. It's just panic trying to take over, but there's no reason to panic."

If you buy into the feeling for even a second, yes, it has a mind of its own. You just have to be firm at the very instant the first idea crosses your mind.

Only then do you have the control. Try it.
