Hi Everyone,
So I just registered to this forum thinking, that some might benefit from my experience regarding the more alternative approach to our problem. If you prefer the more traditional therapeutic road, and think that this route is quackery, you obviously have the freedom to do so, just please don't bash me.
So here we go…
Flower Essences
So Flower Essences are basically water and alcohol carrying the vibration of the flower essence. Once you find the right essence(s) that correspond with your emotional issues, the essences will wash out the negative energies with their positive opposite. Essences (and homeopathy aswell) are different from traditional allopathic medicines, because they are not trying to suppress the emotions or underlying cause, instead they clean it out by bringing the underlying issue to your conscious awareness. That's why if you recover by the help of the essences and/or homeopathy, your mental health issue will not come back in your life, because the core problem is dealt with.
You can combine essences with homeopathy. If you hit the right remedy combination, then their effect can be pretty quick, but to get the full benefit of them, you need to take them for a longer period of time. Also, healing with flower essences are like peeling an onion - once you get rid of one layer, another will emerge, and a different remedy would be needed in that case.
For starters, I'd suggest the Bach Flower Essences for you guys. Actually, it is said that the 38 Bach Flower Remedies is enough to cure any emotional imbalance. I can't vouche for that, I'm still experimenting myself.
I suggest taking a look at this blog (oh man, if my essence blog would have more content, I could shamelessly promote myself right now… *babyrage*):
http://dynamiccure.blogspot.com/
A few essences that might be a good start for people with DP:
White Chestnut - For the constant analyzing
„Excessive self-observation in regard to mental/emotional or physical symptoms; feels caught within own self."
Star of Bethlehem - If your DP is caused by trauma
„This remedy is for shock and fright. There is a half dream state and accompanying inner numbness and psychosomatic illness. The personality cannot come into an active role in life. This remedy can reintegrate the personality and help insure mental clarity and inner strength. It is good to use if there is NO RESPONSE TO TREATMENT. There is an unconscious block on the psychic energy and there can also be a lack of appetite and digestive system."
Agrimony - For the suppression of emotions, fear of emotions and denial.
„The main negative tendencies of Agrimony is denial and suppression. The Agrimony Flower Essence may assist in releasing inner tension, anxities and hidden emotions, while getting rid of the superficial mask of cheerfulness to look deeper within us. It may also assist with extreme anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress syndrome, in which unpleasent memories have been suppressed within the subconscious mind.
Agrimony helps alleviate the pain and tension surrounding the suppression of strong emotions and helps the inner self to be authentic and open to wholesome communication. The pain experienced during migraines and resulting from this suppressive dynamic is a physical protest against the disharmonious affront of strong emotions, their frustration and suppression. Agrimony helps the body cope with this affront by balancing the opposing will and unifying the inner self into wholesome self-expression."
Rock Water - Same, for suppression and for the need to be perfect.
„Those in need of Rock Water set themselves very high standards and impose very strict disciplines upon themselves in an effort to adhere to their high minded, idealistic principles. They hope to set an example for others to follow by forcing themselves to be saints or martyrs."
Cherry Plum - Also suppression, constant monitoring of thoughts, thought suppression.
„Extreme tension and anxiety, the mind is overwrought and driven by unwanted mental impulses and urges. The processes of spiritual and mental growth that occur when energies are balanced are almost frantically suppressed, as the person seeks to deny the dark forces which reside in everyone. The person's own terror that dark thoughts could lead to dark actions causes them to try to drive down and suppress all such thoughts. The person in a negative Cherry Plum state is unable to face his or her own inner feelings and completely denies the guidance of the Higher Self. This personality suffers from a fundamental fear of opening up to the process of development. He is literally unable to "let go." The Cherry Plum condition is on the surface paradoxical. It occurs when one desperately fears one's thoughts and emotions; yet the ending of this state can only be achieved when the individual is able to let go. They avoid any focus on their thoughts, may suppress any memory of their dreams, and resist feeling."
Pine - For guilt (and possible feelings of worthlessness)
I've heard many people with DP suffer from guilt, regret and shame. Pine IS the absolute best remedy for guilt, however if your guilt is stemming from trauma, than go for Star of Bethlehem. You can combine Pine with Crab Apple.
„Burdening feelings of guilt and self-reproach; inability to release them. Highly developed voice of conscience; broods and despairs over sins and failings. Excessive introversion, self-reflection, and stifling self-observation."
If you don't know what to go for, just try Holly. It is meant to open up the heart (and it can also bring up long suppressed anger).
If you are interested in the flower essences, I suggest that you do a thorough research on the original Bach website… but honestly it's not rocket science, you just buy the essences, grab an empty, 30 ml bottle with a glass dropper. Fill it with water, a little bit of brandy to preserve it (or any kind of stronger alcohol). If you are allergic to alcohol, than obviously ditch that, but your essence will only last for 2 weeks at most in that case. Put 2 drops from each of your chosen remedies. The maximum amount of essences you should put in the bottle is 7, but honestly the less is better. The more you put in it, the more you "dilute" each essence, and the less effective they will be. For maximum benefit, I really suggest not going above 5. I know, once you are hooked on the essences, its pretty freaking hard to not go above 5, because you will be like „but I want this, that, and that aswell", but trust me, it's not worth it. I have been experimenting for a month now, and I can safely say, that my most powerful combinations were the ones that contained no more than 5 (hell, maybe no more than 3).
Also, contrary to homeopathy, it is completely HARMLESS. If you choose an essence that doesn't correspond with your issue, worst case scenario is that nothing will happen.
However, even though they are harmless, they are POWERFUL tools, I can say that from my personal experience. Please do not underestimate them. Some essences (like Agrimony or Star of Bethlehem) do NOT heal with „love". They are catalysts and heal by bringing the pain to the front and it can be nasty af. One night before going to sleep I took like 8 drops of Star of Bethlehem straight from the stock bottle. I cried for hours, because it brought up feelings from my childhood when I felt utterly unloved/unloveable.
I'm not saying that this will definitely happen to you guys, all I'm saying, is that I'm pretty sure that the majority of us have a lot of repressed emotions, traumas and essences are more than capable of bring those emotions to the front, so be cautious! Also, even if you might feel an essence kicking in in a couple of days, keep in mind, that at the end, its a long run. If you are really impatient, just take Impatiens.

Homeopathy
I don't know much about homeopathy honestly, I mainly did my research on flower essences, so I'm just going to copy a few paragraphs to shed some light on it.
„A basic belief behind homeopathy is "like cures like." In other words, something that brings on symptoms in a healthy person can -- in a very small dose -- treat an illness with similar symptoms. This is meant to trigger the body's natural defenses. For example, red onion makes your eyes water. That's why it's used in homeopathic remedies for allergies. Treatments for other ailments are made from poison ivy, white arsenic, crushed whole bees, and an herb called arnica.
Homeopathic doctors (who also are called "homeopaths") weaken these ingredients by adding water or alcohol. Then they shake the mixture as part of a process called "potentization." They believe this step transfers the healing essence. Homeopaths also believe that the lower the dose, the more powerful the medicine. In fact, many of these remedies no longer contain any molecules of the original substance."
All I know is that you shouldn't play with homeopathy on your own. I highly suggest visiting a homeopath instead, because if you take the wrong remedy (especially in a high potency) it can actually damage your vital force rather than repair it. As far as I know, you can experiment with 6C, 12C and maybe 30C potencies aswell, but I do not recommend it. Just visit a homeopath.
However keep in mind, that homeopathy and flower essences do not cure diseases. They cure people. A homeopath is going to look at you as a whole person, and if you visit one, chances are the interview is going to take 1-5 or 2 hours. They will ask you about your family background, your history, ask more in depth of your problem, your dreams, what kind of food do you like, what kind of food you don't like. Even if this might sound unnecessary, every detail is important.
One more important thing; the aggravation. Every homeopath is different; some like to prescribe a single high potency dose, which is the more brutal approach. Some like to take it more gently, and go with the 30C or lower potencies, or give you an LM potency, which is very subtle. Either way, there is something called aggravation (or „healing crisis") which is basically the worsening of symptoms. This is a GOOD THING. As I said before, these alternative medicines do not suppress the disease, but wash them out.
„The Homeopathic aggravation; also known as a "healing crisis." After taking the Homeopathic remedy, there can be what is termed an aggravation. This is a limited in duration, aggravation of symptoms; mental, emotional and/or physical, and is an indication that the remedy is acting. (See Hering's Law of Cure on the History of Homeopathy page.) This worsening is often based on toxins being eliminated through the outlets of the body, via the stool, or urine, through the skin as rashes, pimples, boils or fever, through the nose as sneezing, a cold, etc.. Temporary worsening is not to be interpreted as side effects, but as signs of your body working to heal itself. If the aggravation involves new and different symptoms (while original symptoms remain unchanged), it is known as a dissimilar aggravation and indicates that the remedy choice is wrong and a new remedy needs to be selected."
If you choose homeopathy, then you have to keep in close contact with your homeopath and you have to monitor yourself (we are pretty good at that, so no worries). Tell them if you feel worse, or better or nothing has happened. Also very important: KEEP A DIARY OF YOUR DREAMS. Chances are, once you take a remedy, you are going to encounter a lot of dreams. These dreams reflect your healing process. A good homeopath will constantly ask for your dreams, because there may be periods when you don't feel alright, but your dreams are showing your progress. Ah yes, and PLEASE make sure to choose a good homeopath. I know it's hard in this messed up world, but if you have the opportunity, than try to choose someone who is more expensive, professional and has a good reputation. As I said before, homeopathy is not child's play, it can be dangerous if an amateur is handling your case, so best save up some money for the big guys instead.
My personal experience: I have been taking homeopathy for nearly 4 months, and yes, the aggravation can be messy. In fact, I'm still aggravating. Healing with homeopathy and flower essences can be nasty, but you will sooner or later reap the benefits, but chances are, it's going to be a roller-coaster (it is for me, at least, but I have avoided dealing with my DP/trauma for 5 years so no wonder). All the while, I'm having messed up dreams about my past, mainly about the topics that led me to this point. Even though my emotional state is bad due to the aggravation, my mental and physical state has gotten much better.
Subliminals
I have recently found those subliminal affirmation channels on YT and got hooked up on them. They basically bypass the conscious mind and the information is going straight to your unconscious mind. They have subliminals for literally everything; change your eye color, heal your mental illness, have bigger boobs, be a freaking elf from World of Warcraft, you name it. I believe that the subconscious mind is everything, and if you can convince it that you want to have a rainbow eye color, then it's going to do it.
Anyway, the point is, I suggest that you make yourself a subliminal. By my own personal experience, I do not suggest listening to those channels… since the affirmations are mostly silent, you have no idea what they are planting in your mind. I have been listening to one that is designed for emotional well-being for a month, and it turns out that there are a crapload of negative and satanic affirmations in them. No wonder I felt like sh*t. If you insist on listening to other people's subs, then avoid channels called MindPower and Seijin. They are shady.
1, But still, the best is to make your own. Preferably record your own voice, your subconscious mind is more receptive to that. If you feel awkward, don't or can't do it, then write them down and use this website:
http://www.fromtexttospeech.com/
2, Download Audacity. Paste the recording and lower the volume so that you can barely here the affirmations.
3, Paste a song on top of it. Any song you like.
Export and that's it.
Tips: Do a quick research on how to do them. Do not use words such as don't, can't, etc. Your subconscious cannot understand the word „no". So for example if you use an affirmation that is „I'm not my depression" that's pretty much going to have an opposite effect.
A few examples:
My emotions are acceptable
It is safe to feel my emotions.
I love, accept and embrace my emotions.
I allow my emotions and thoughts to flow.
Everything I feel is valid
I release and heal any feelings of guilt
I deserve to be happy
I release and heal any stored up emotions
I'm allowed to express my feelings.
I let go of any resistance and allow life to flow through me.
Any subconscious traumas holding me back heal and fade away.
I'm freeing myself from all destructive doubt and fear.
I'm rising above the thoughts that are trying to make me guilty or anxious.
I'm going to forgive and free myself. I deserve to forgive and be forgiven.
I am healing every day. I will continue to heal. I will let myself heal.
You can also aim at certain parts of your brain. For example…
Any imbalances in my prefrontal cortex is now balanced. My prefrontal cortex is healthy.
Any imbalances in my limbic system is now balanced. My limbic system cortex is healthy.
Etc... I think you get it. Experiencing headaches at the beginning while listening to affirmations is normal. It means your subconscious mind is working, but there is a blockage. Take a break. Drink lots of water. Rest and don't overwhelm yourself.
I don't suggest trying out all these 3 methods all at once, because all of them might aggravate your state.
I hope I could help. Remember, this is only temporary and you will recover. I can list a few more flower essences that might help you, if anyone is interested.
