I am a homeopathic practictioner, doing my Masters in Science on Homeopathic Medicine, I would like to do my thesis on Derealization/Depersonalization and its cure with homeopathy.

I decided on this subject when my son just recently presented the symptoms. He began treatment and on the 4th day he looked at me and said I think I'm a little bit better, on the 5th day he said I think it's gone, Homeopathy Can help.

I would like your participation so that I can eventually develop it into a book to help those suffering. I truly suffer with you.

What i need is discussion about the experiences. What I have noticed there is a common theme, the theme is 'in a dream', but reading through the different experiences and sensations, there seems to be particular experiences amongst each of you. In homeopathy there are 96 remedies that can cure the symptoms 'in a dream', the way a homeopath chooses the RIGHT remedy for that individual is by finding the peculiar symptoms of that individual.

I have read some of your experiences, and some feel, like they are floating over their body, someone else might feel like they are in a glass bottle, and yet someone else feels that their body is not their own. It is in these peculiar symptoms unique to each of you where the key to the right remedy lies.

My thesis/book will help other homeopaths and perhaps public find the RIGHT remedy for that person. Because in homeopathy if the remedy is not rightly selected , it will not work...but when it is correctly selected, you can wake up one morning and it can all be gone!

So please ask open the file attached and answer the questions and send them back to me....let's get started!!

1) Im an 18 year old female

2)I have been suffering from this sensation for 4-5 years (on and off)

3)I feel like nothing is real, my friends, family, and boyfriend seem like they are different people. I just feel like nothing is right, or the same.

4)It starts whenever I go to new places, or even old places that I don't go to that often. Sometimes I wake up and it's there for no reason. Recently it happened from so much stress and anxiety from irratioal and obsessive thoughts that i cant seem to shake off. Like I don't know what my true feelings are.

5)I feel worse when being alone but it's still there when I'm with other people. It's just always there... It makes me feel worse at night too.

6)I just feel like no one understands, i feel like im crazy, i feel like it will never go away and i don't know who or what to believe. i cant even believe my own self. i don't know if my emotions are real or true. It makes me distant from people.

Thank you Sofia for sharing with me. You are not crazy, and there are people who understand. I'd like to ask you a few more questions, if that is ok....

1. Can you describe what gives you anxiety and stress?
2. When was the first time it happened to you? and what was going on in your life?
3. Do you have any other physical conditions?
4. Do you have any fears?
5. When you are in this state...what does it feel like? If it is possible for you to describe it as a sensation...for example someone might feel like they are in a bottle, or that their body is not attached....what does it feel like for you?

1) I am 25. Male.
2) I live in Toronto, Canada.
3) I have been suffering 10 months straight
4) I feel non-existence. Disconnected. As if hands aren't mine. Detached from previous sense of self. No ease in existence.
5) Decemeber 13th, 2010. Very stressed, working 7 days a week. Full time school and 2 part time jobs. Yikes. Although my sense is a bad drug experience with adderall is what triggered it. I took adderall to study for finals and then got DPd. Horrible.
6) Too much stress / deadlines. Ruminating.
7) I went through anxiety and depression as a result of the dp but that's over now. However I do experience horrible headaches everyday.

Jayd, Can you tell me...

1. How do you mean 'shitty' the night before?
2. What were you doing on that night? What was happening in your life?
3. Can you explain...'in a dream'?

The night before I was with my friend. We were about to go out drinking but I stayed in instead because I was feeling kind of dizzy almost or nauseous and tired. I don't think I was feeling DP that night however when I woke up in the morning I was DP'd. I'm not exactly sure what caused my DP. I just finished my first year of school and I remember when I was studying for final exams I would have episodes of DP that lasted a couple minutes. So I then had about 2 weeks off and my mom got me a job that I never asked for and I didn't like it. 6 weeks in is when I woke up in the morning and noticed something was off.

Feeling like your "in a dream" is a classic DP/DR symptom. Some people might refer to it as a feeling of unreality. I think it's actually more derealization than depersonalization.

Alienation from surroundings (Derealization)
e.g. like looking through a camera, veil, things appear unreal

I avoid to 'name' the sensations...because they are not a disease. It is a state and sensation that for whatever reason the person suffers from. In homeopathy we do not treat by the name of disease, but by the sensation that the person is feeling. and not all 'DP/DR' sufferers will describe the same sensation.

I couldn't get the download to load properly so I can't answer the questions as I cannot see them.

What are homeopathic ways to treat DP/DR? I am seeing a ND soon and will be doing some biofeedback testing and addressing DP/DR which I have dealt with since 1998.

Also, How would homeopathy treat DP/DR that is thought to be secondary to another ailment- such as Lyme, (which I have) MS, or other neurodegenerative diseases or bacterial infections. There is evidence that thinning myelin sheath has a lot to do with these sensations, in regards to DP/DR being caused by neurologic issues.

Also I think DP/DR and OCD are very similar. People with DP/DR tend to obsess over the way they feel, always checking to see if they are feeling right, 'scanning' reality, etc. I might go as far to say that DP/DR is in fact a type of OCD. How is OCD addressed with homeopathy?

Thanks

On another note. I was doing some reading on homeopathy, and had an interesting thought. Many(most) of the people here first experienced DP/DR as a result of cannabis use. There have been recent studies to show that certain compounds of the cannabis plant (CBD,or cannabidiol) have anti-psychotic properties(studies show that CBD works better than atypical antipsychotic drugs) but THC, has the opposite effect, causing paranoia, and general unpleasant feelings.

I wonder If a homeopathic tincture of CBD from the cannabis plant would help people who suffer with DP/DR as a result of their cannabis use.

Hi great comment! Take a look at my second blog, about Cannabis used in homeopathy, but definately not in the tincture form, it would have to be potentized. The deeper into the mentals/emotionals the symptoms present the higher the potency/dilution, in order for it to be effective.

I would hope that the ND is a homeopath who uses the advanced methods where the remedies are put in liquids and can be taken daily. Some homeopaths use dry doses with long intervals of taking them and it takes longer.

The homeopath will take the totality of your sensations, and find a remedy to match, if the cause of the DP/DR is clear then the remedy should correspond to the cause, such as in Cannabis use.

I have used Cannabis Indica effectively with a DR case.

Myelin sheath can be retored with KALI PHOSPHORICUM 6X, cell salt....it is a homeopathic supplement. I also found GINGKO BILBOA Standarized extract 40mg, taking 240 mg daily...helps alot as well with neurological issues and anxiety. It is natural...you can look it up.

Hey, wonderful idea to go into homöopathic directions, I had some good results with homöopathy treating a skin problem.

1.) I'm a 29 year old female.

2.) I live in Germany/Berlin but spend the first 20 years of my life on the country side in Germany.

3.) short episodes when I was 12 or 13, at the age of 18 approx. it stayed chronic until today.

4.) Veeeery difficult to explain. When I try to make people understand I usually say I feel like sitting in a cinema and the movie which is playing is my life. It feels as if would only watch but cannot interfere. Voices come from far away and everything just appears plastic and foreign although I'm able to recognize it.

5.) See point 3: I cannot remember anymore when it happened first time but I was in a period of severe panic attacks and hypochondria.

6.) Too much thinking about DP/DR, being tired, being under alcohol influence, being in stressful situations

7.) panic and anxiety disorder, especially from sicknesses. Here and there depressiv episodes.

8.) On firday night I dreamed the prince of Norway would marry me, I was wearing a very nice dress ;-D

9.) See point 7: sicknesses are my biggest fear.
