I am in urgent need of help. Our insurance changed and we had to change doctors. Now no doctor will prescribe the Klonopin (Clonazepam) that my son takes and needs. He's 15 years old...can anyone in the San Francisco Bay Area (San Jose, Oakland, SF, etc) recommend a doctor who will prescribe it to a minor? (We've tried other drugs for 2 years with disastrous results.) The Klonopin has worked even though it's been a year. He nearly killed himself on SSRIs and anti-psychotics.
We've been to doctor after doctor refusing to help us. They told to go the ER. Today we went to the fanciest Emergency Room in Palo Alto (ya, the famous one) and they called pediatric psych and after 5 hours psych said it is not the appropriate drug. (I had even shown them that Mayo Clinic now lists it.) The ER then gave us a 3 day supply!!!! My child had been fairly stable on Klonopin 1.5 mg. per day for the past year along with Lamictal.
Does anyone know a doctor in the greater Bay Area who will prescribe a benzo to someone under age 18?
He starts a new school this Monday. They are going to ruin his chances of acting like a "normal" kid at the start of school. I'm so mad and my son is going to lose it. Please help if you can.
