hello

I found this site today and would like to say hello and thanks to the people who run the site.

'I'm 50 and have had DP for 20 years after being put on medication for a condition that I never had in the first place.

For me, DP is part of a dignosed anxiety/depressive disorder that also includes OCD, I treat my condition with a mixture of SSRI's and Valium, together with a rigourous exercise regime,

I'm interested in Mysticism and sometimes I describe DP as 'an acute awareness of the reality of Being, a form of evolved consciousness, one that is advanced enough to be uncomfortable but yet not advanced enough to be resolved, perhaps Resolution is to be found in the ancient traditions of Meditation and Mysticism. Its almost like, having somehow opened the doors of perception, one has then to walk through them and go the whole length of the room to find Resolution, having said that, I certainly havent't got there yet !'

Best wishes

Hi Jeanleblues

I can relate, but I think that you can lose yourself in mysticism. Personally I think that our challenge is to force ourselves to engage in the outside mundane world as it is the only game in town so far as I am concerned. I would have difficulty fitting in and have difficulty finding meaning and anchorage in the world, but practice is the way of making it slightly more tolerable. There is no joy in withdrawing for me. Best wishes.
