Hi,

I'm new to this forum. I only just found yesterday that the term 'depersonalization disorder' exists. I feel almost normal because for the first time in months I've stopped worrying that I'm developing schizophrenia.

The reason I'm posting, as well as to say hello and introduce myself, is to see if anybody else's experiences involve some aspects of mine that I haven't found anywhere online yet. I don't feel very depersonalized constantly, it's just always there in a tiny amount, just enough to have me on edge for days on end and the occasional horrible panic attack. But what I want to know is if anyone else has induced dp through meditation (OK, so drugs were involved, but I think I made things a lot lot worse by meditating, ironically to control flashback style panic attacks), and if so if they still practise any kind of meditation/relaxation/lucid dreaming and if they've had any other intense experiences through meditation... And also, the 'tingling' that people talk about, is that a kind of pressure inside your head? As if it's filling with a buzzing kind of energy or something? And if not does anybody else get this, because I find that it's the first stage in a panic attack for me, and the least controllable aspect of the whole thing.

Also, I saw a post about people from here meeting up. I don't know any of you at all yet, but if anyone is planning any meetings I would love to meet up with people that feel like this too, I'm still bursting with relief that I'm not psychotic, and to spend an evening out with other normal-seeming people with the same problem would be really nice. I'm in England, based in Oxford at the moment, but also quite often in Kent. Just got my young persons railcard, so happy to travel!

That was quite a lot of topics in one post, but I didn't want to flood the board with posts,

Beth.

hi there and welcome :)

i did do a thread about pressure in the head and around the eyes if you want to have a look at that...

a lot of people here seem to suffer from that...

when i do meditation i find that i focus more on the odd thoughts and feelings and so would much rather be doing something to keep my mind busy....that is more relaxing in some respects...

tingling and numbness seem to be a common thing too...that kind of detachment thing...

yeah i would like to meet up with people too....i live in west sussex....my nan lives in kent :D

but first i need to sort out my agoraphobia to travel

i hope my post has been of a bit of interest and help :D

take care..

PM me anytime :D
