So here I am with heightened unreality.

I haven't felt this way that often but when I do, it really does raise my anxiety more. I'm not sure which complements the other as well - the anxiety increasing the unreality, or the unreality increasing the anxiety.

I also want to note that I had taken lamotragin 25 mg as a trial - only once. I really had a bad trip. My anxiety rose because my unreality rose, and I was feeling very shaky because of my anxiety - feeling my heart pace a hundred beats per second.

So, I was wondering if anyone with depersonalization has felt like this during their time with DP, and what they did to lessen the unreality.

Any notes would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

Hey man, don't worry.

That's the nature of Depersonilzation (that also includes derealization).

It's like a cycle.

Everything looks unreal because you're anxious (Even the tiniest bit of anxiety can make you feel this way), and then you start panicing about everything looking unreal, which in turn fuels the cycle even more.

Anxiety>DP/DR>Worry about the DP/DR>more anxiety>More DP/DR.

To lessen the feeling of DP/DR, I distract myself 100% from any thoughts regarding DP/DR, but as soon as I "check in" or start thinking about it, it comes back straight away.

Eventually you'll stop thinking about it so often, and it will dissapear. When that starts happening you will be able to see that DP/DR is all in your mind and you can start to eliminate it.

:)
Perfect answer which pretty much sums up recovery.

Don't obsess over the feeling, instead just let it slide and try your best to not pay any mind to it.

Well, thanks for the info but I have had this unreality for many years now, so it may be in my mind, but its there 24/7 so, its easier said than done.

I wish I could just eliminate it just like that, but not to many remedies are working to get rid of it.

Thanks all the same though.
