I first heard that song over 2 years ago when I first started experiencing DP. What a mind blowing tune! I also heard it live when I saw them down in Houston in 03.

I am getting kinda sick of pink floyd after listening to them non stop for 2 years, but the one song that will never get old is "Echoes." I challenge you to find a more DPed song than that.

Heh, I immediately put in 26 Mixes for Cash after I read that. At the risk of sounding like a hippy...IDM music like Aphex Twin, Amon Tobin, Squarepusher, BOC all plays into whatever rhythm is inside of my head. Falling free is an excellent track. The Tracheus Kinesthesia mix is another one that just has this perfect trippy, industrial sound to it that I can totally get inside of the song in a very dp kind of way.

Yeh I am also a very big fan of the 'IDM' genre of music , my fascination with this kind of music started when I first heard aphex twins come to daddy and I can remeber what the hell this is unlike anything of ever heard, as it sounds like a combination of dum and bass, metal and industrial all rolled into one, I think the video is genius as well. I then discovered other artists in the progressive elctronic genre such as BOC , and autechre and it has now become one of my favioute genres of music because it sounds unlike anything else other people are performing though the influence of various other styles of music can be be heard, I also like how with an artist like aphex he has a variety of charecters and styles of music that he develops and makes, Like for example an an album he might have a track that sounds like it comes out of the mind of some scitzopheinc maniac with screaming and massive drum beats and nasty sounds, then he will have a really innocent sounding song with lovely sweeping melodies and crisp beats, this kind of vareity of production and style in his song I think marks him out as a true artist and I think this is a big reason why I identfy with this kind of music, because I myself tend to swing in mood all the time and it's nice to have a group of artists , a genre of music that can accomadate this , while still being progressive and sounding fresh and original.

Richard D James is THE musical genious of this era as far as i'm concerned. Come to Daddy is what turned me on to him a few years or so ago (also turned me onto director Chris Cunningham). I love to listen to an album that has such beautiful melodies like Flim, IZ-US, or Avril 14th, and then jump into a nightmarish drill and bass song like on of those incomprehensible titles on drukqs. Somehow, despite the rapid acid beats and total madness of some of his tracks, I feel totally calm. IDM is so timeless because the layers are sometimes so thick, you need to listen to it over and over to pick up the random beats, soundbytes you might have missed.

Listening to Aphex might be a chore for some people, but i've developed the listening capacity for such music. BOC, Brain Eno, and Aphex ambient has been my current obsession of late though...as I need to calm my nerves a bit around finals time.

i also like IDM for this same reason, everytime I listen i gain new insight into the structure, I hear new sounds that on an intial listen I didin't hear etc etc, it is because of this I think that some IDM (the more ambient sided stuff) is very much like the classical music of the past because when you lsiten to that there are many layers , the music is sometimes complex etc etc and most classical music takes you on a journey somewhere, very much like IDM does.
