Everytime I have a DP episode, I'm wearing my glasses. Sometimes, during an episode, I can take off my glasses and it gets drastically better. Without my glasses, I can sometimes feel almost normal. I was on Dream's website, and I think that she mentioned something about when she took off her glasses she felt better. Does anyone else here wear glasses and have this same thing? I've been thinking of switching to contacts because of this. I think it might help.

I've noticed that sunglasses make my DP/DR much worse. I don't wear prescription glasses, but I do see a huge difference in wearing the sunglasses and not wearing them. My depth perception seems way worse.

I almost always wear contacts but when I do where glasses my dp feels worse. But for me, my glasses are kinda small so I can see in my peripheral vision. Out of the sides of my glasses things are blurry, and this bothers me. BUT, I had some eye problems recently and had to wear glasses for two weeks and I ended up getting pretty used to them. By the end of the two weeks when I put my contacts back in, my eyes felt blurry with contacts. I can never be satisfied lol. But I would say, sure try contacts. But it may take a few days to get used to them so if you don't like them at first, try them out for a few days just to see. I like contacts way more than glasses because glasses get in the way when you lay down and stuff. Plus they cause a glare when driving.

ShadowCat,

I mentioned in a previous post that I am diagnosed with ADHD, and when I have my contacts in (I usually don't wear glasses), I tend to notice things more - you know, pick up on things more than I did before. What this does for me is increase the visual stimulation which can overload me and make me exhausted and distant. This can increase the anxiety, etc. and the depersonalization.

I'm in no way suggesting you have ADHD, but I am suggesting that the increase in stimulation could do something to you. I haven't thought much about this, though, and so I could be way off.

There have been a few threads started on this in the past. Many of us here have probs with DP and glasses. I know for me personally, my DR gets way worse when wearing glasses- either sunglasses or seeing eye glasses.
