If people are having problems getting decent medical care in the UK, I suggest they go to Internet sites where there are people who know good places and people.

It is so frustrating to hear that people have two-year waiting lists, bad doctors, being "stuck" with doctors, and so forth.

The problem with mental health services in the UK is that, unfortunately, unless you are completely barking mad (ie, actively psychotic), you will be referred to a local mental health worker, who will most probably be nothing more than a mental health nurse, and then (depending on the severity of your illness, or rather - how severe they think it is) be shoved onto a waiting list (of anything from a month to two years, depending on where you live) to see a psychologist, or CBT therapist. It is highly unlikely that you, as a 'neurotic', will ever see a Psychiatrist, ever. Them's the simple facts. It's a shame, but there are so many people who have anxiety/depression related issues, that the NHS just can't cope. If you can afford to go private, then I highly recommend that you do it.
