i get floaters as well. my theory is that they are allways there, i can vagly remember being able to see them when i was a youngster. also, halucenagines can have lasting effects like floaters, i had a few bad experiences on halucinagins. if you have taken halucinagines and think they may have lasting affects you may want to check out hppdonline.com, may be another support group for you. i found that by thinking about my devastating experiences with halucinagines, it just made things worse, but thats me. stay positive as much as you can, we will all be ok.

yes foggy you're right, the floaters are always there.
For some reason we tend to notice them more than at other times.

Apart from when feeling anxious we notice them more when it's a bright day, particularly if the sky is lightly cloud covered and glarey.

Try not to worry Mishyxo.
They can't hurt you and honestly any surgery if such a thing existed would most likely only make them worse.

Cheers Shelly

I used to wonder what they were, floating around in the sky, when I was younger. Against the blueness of the sky you can really see them swirling about.

I really didn't have any floaters or any of this visual bullshit prior to this whole anxiety/panic state. Now I have them all the time. Whenever I look up at the sky i see them & it bothers me, especially since im outside alot playing basketball. And it seems like my eyes are now extra sensative to the Sun. Its a very weird experience being on the basketball court now because my eyes are so sensative. Will this ever go the fuck away??? It gets kinda depressing!

i read somewhere that the floaters move just enough so that the eye doesn't get used to them and you end up seeing them.

they might also be dislodged by moving your eye quickly, try (somehow) avoiding that for a while, see if that helps. maybe stare at an object for a minute or two?

I believe the floaters were always there. We cannot see them when we are not dp'd. There is just something about the mechanism of dp/dr that projects them largely in our vision. I believe in dp/dr being a mechanism engaged during times of intolerable mental suffering(anxiety-depression). I believe this mechanism is similar to a deer freezing when its trapped in a cars headlights. No where to run, no where to hide so we become dp'd. During times of high anxiety, Its as if we are seeing our world from too far behind the lenses of our eyes. I know from experience, that when the anxiety goes away, the dp/dr goes away and I was unable to see the floaters any more.

Hi,

Nope. For me, when the anxiety/panic goes away, the dp/dr goes with it. Theres nothing complicated about it. I realize people disagree with this but how many people on this board can honestly say they are COMPLETELY CALM AND TRANQUIL and yet the dp still exists?? I dont believe anybody can say this. When I read peoples posts on this board the only word that comes to mind is ANXIETY. Keep in mind people can become adjusted to anxiety states. Its not until the anxiety completely subsides that they realize what their mental state was.

Hi,
my experience is also that I've never had DP/DR when calm and the more intense my anxiety, the more intense the DP/DR.

As for occular (do I get bonus points for using "occular" ;o) complaints I find that my eyes water loads and I have to peer at my monitor at work as if it's 400 metres away... and I have perfect eyesight... =0o
