When I started having panic attacks again after 6 years, I told my family doctor, she just kinda looked at me and changed the subject, I couldn't believe it! There I was crying and she wanted to talk about allergies being the cause of my problems! . I saw a different psych doctor about 6 years ago and he was very cold , arrogant and impersonal, just wanted to drug me and get me out of the office. I went to see a new psychiatrist last Tuesday, he turned out to be great! I had a dp and panic attack on the way there and burst into tears the second he called me into his office. He really understood dp and my panic symptoms. We decided TOGETHER what meds I would take and how often. He was funny and reassuring. He said "We will work together until you feel better". I am sharing my experience because I know alot of people give up on doctors, there are still some caring ones out there. I am feeling a little better already.

yeah, I admit, I lucked out, but I have been thru my share of doctors who did little or nothing to help me. Besides the doctors I talked about in my post, in the last 3 years, I switched doctors 8 times. Some just didnt care, some just didnt believe me and some just didn't know what to do. My new doctor was pure luck, I had made an appointment with another doctor but cancelled and made an appointment with this doctor because he could see me sooner. So yeah, karma was on my side for once!

A doctor who cares and wants to put you on medication to drug you out of your mind versus a doctor who doesn't care and wants to put you on medication to drug you out of your mind. Can you explain the difference, as the end result is the same?

The difference is that the other psychiatrist didn't want to know my symptoms or if I had used any other medications, he just wrote me prescriptions even when I told him I still had plenty left. My new Doctor actually TALKED to me and wanted to know what I was experiencing and if any medications had helped me in the past, he spoke to me about why I felt this way. We also spoke about about planning in the future when I felt better to decrease the drugs and try meditation. The difference is we are WORKING TOGETHER!

I saw a doctor yesterday, a psychologist, who is also a family friend, so he cares about me...But now, I don't know if I explained properly what I'm going through, so I just don't know if it was worthy...I thought I would be feeling better after that visit, but I actually felt much worse. I know I can't expect too much from my first doctor visit, he can't just give my one magic pill that will cure everything, but I want to feel a little bit better.... :(

Honestly, just because you had a bad experience with medication does not mean the whole industry is corrupt and that slowly one by one the drug industries are turning us into mindless zombies so that they can get their fix of money (they do want money but still).

Meds fucking work for some people, and your post just piss me off how you constantly disreguard any medication at all. Its not like meds make you go mindless, if you have any common sense you know when too much is too much in the meds department. If you cant tell if your taking way too much and your doctor is giving you high dosages you dont need, well your pretty braindead to start off with.

Lemontea, keep lookin for a good doctor.be honest to the doc.next time you go,write your symptoms down before you go in so you remember them all and then hand him the list.this will also stop you from not telling him everything,we do that sometimes out of embarrassment or deeper subconscious reasons.Youve got to be honest with yourself and those that want to help you if you are goin to get better.good luck!!
