this is the thing that is bothering me most of all...

the fact that i can see feels abnormal and scary...

i just want to accept that i can see and not to question it...

i have been able to accept that i can breathe and i still question it but do not worry about it as much...

but with my sight it is so scary...

instead of looking i feel like i am staring....

i know i have started a hell of a lot of threads over the last few days...

i am sorry if people are sick of me...lol

but i just feel so lost...

thank you for reading and if you have any comments or coping ideas with this subject....that would be great :)

take care all...

First of all I am sorry to hear that you are suffering. I don't have any magical answers, but I do know that the nature of dp/dr is to create all sorts of horrible scarey symptoms. To play tricks on our brain so that we obsess over our symptoms. The more you can relax your mind and tell yourself that you are okay and that you will be okay the sooner the symptoms will subside and the sooner your fear will subside. It is a viscious cycle.
Remember to rest, exercise, take really good supplements, and distract yourself. Don't over think your symptoms. Yes, easier said then done.
I wish you peace of mind :D

I had this symptom for a few months. It just felt weird to actually see! It has gone away, in fact everything went away & once I started feeling normal silly me started looking at all those things that scared me & thinking how stupid I was to be scared etc, then little bits would come back & I realised I was bringing it back on. So I got over that & the next week I had a problem with my eyesight & it was oh, no, I don't want to go blind.

This illness is silly! Stop playing games with your mind. Get some tips on how to deal with obsessions & focus on reality.

I know it is easier said than done but slowly but surely it will go away once you learn to be more involved in life & not in your head.

thank you all so much for your replies :)

i know i have always been able to see and i know that all is ok...but it is just that vicious cycle of thinking about it all....

just when i start thinking about somthing else...it kicks in again

damn it!

sassy and charger....you told me exactly what i needed to hear and thank you for your info...

i suppose the only way to stop obsessing about this is to just get involved in things more...forget about how i am doing things and just do things!

and dreamcatcher....i too have noticed that we are pretty much going through exactly the same things at the moment... :)

i wish all you guys the best and thank you so much again for your comments :)

Hi Shadowness,

I too have had this symptom, it sounds very familiar

It was like I felt 'overwhelmed' by my vision, and it made me have a very horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach, and also like a dull ache on the top of my head, like id been clonked on the head with something. I think its related to depression.

Anyway, I rang 'No Panic' ( an ex- sufferer led helpline for panic attacks/ anxiety) and I spoke to one lady, and she said there was a trick you could do for this.

If you focus straight ahead, but turn your attention to what you can see in the corners of your eyes, but without moving your eyeballs, if you know what I mean, it helps to make the vision less 'hypervigilant'

Sounds a bit confusing, but it actually worked

I don't mind people posting a lot. I think the more they post the better.
