I've never tried wearing contacts, but this seems a bit relevant. One of the first things I felt i needed to do once I started having intese DR was buy a pair of glasses. I believe that they help.

If I were to get glasses in the future, i wouldn't mind paying the extra cash for some tint or glare removal...something like that.

Not long after this started for me I noticed that wearing sunglasses seemed to help alleviate the symptoms a bit. This progressed to non-corrective glasses for indoors. At some point I decided maybe I looked better without glasses and tried contacs (non-corrective). Aside from never getting over the feeling that I had something stuck in my eye, I don't recall any change in the DP symptoms - better or worse. Went back to wearing glasses, which honestly does seem to help. Maybe the narrowing of my field of vision has something to do with it. Gets me to focus somehow.

Unless it is really, really murky, I always wear shades outside during the day, and usually wear glasses (tinted just slightly across the top to help with the flourescent light issue) inside.

sc, sunglasses help for me too. As for contacts, I'm the exact opposite of you unigirl. I'm so used to wearing contacts, have since the 8th grade, that I just bought a new pair of glasses and when I put them on things look weird. I'm slowly getting used to them. It's like I can't see as well with glasses because in my periferal vision things are blurry but with contacts everything is clear.

i got contacts & glasses shortly after i started developing dp. i'm quite shortsighted, just had never noticed. i found being able to see so well quite trippy, and still find it constantly amazing. it does often make dp worse for me, it makes everything painfully 3d and bright. when i feel bad i take my contacts out and that makes me about 30% better, immediately.
