This is really pi**inf me off now and I can't get a single explanation why . Around 4/5pm my already half conscious brain goes even slower and it's like I can literally feel my brain turning off like it's going to sleep and it gets worse and worse until I go to sleep. Like my brain is telling me it needs to go to sleep every day at 5pm ! But why ?!?!

Surely this has got to be some hormone or something I'm low in which by 5pm is completely emptied from my body and can o it build it back by sleeping ?!

Grrr

Ok i wish i could help you since i had all the worst symptoms for quite long time, and had to be in bed most of the day. I did some hormone tests i thought it to be, and many other different blood tests (whatever i doubted). I spent bunch of money on whatever i suspected to be. It wasnt anything of that, it was simply thing in brain, something is depleted from your brain either from prolonged stress/depression/traumas or weed/drugs (it definitely has something to do with dopamine). I dont say for sure, u could have adrenal fatigue/low testosterone or something else , but you should know by your other symptoms since DP/DR is not usually only symptom of those. It can also be mercury, or candida it can all trigger DP. But i say, if its purely mental thing i recommend u to some my posts i explain how can u back to normal self in short time

Sorry to hear you are struggling like this. Who knows what the cause is. Cortisol plumetts around that time of day. We could be already low on that from constant stress. But there are 2 studies on DPD amd cortisol and if I remember correct they contradicted each other. So we don't know what role cortisol plays.

I have been focusing recently on mentally and physically relaxing. Relaxing the breath (in meditation) although that isn't recommended by a lot of people as it is a known trigger. This would, in an ideal world, lower cortisol which could be over excreted in DPD
