@RunToMe,

When I had the worst onset of DPDR, I basically did not feel my body, it felt as if it was not there, and if it had no weight at all. Even when walking I felt like floating, and I had difficulty realizing how much space my body occupies, as I didn't feel it, so I was focused on not bumping into something. So it was more of an absence than a presence, which is difficult to qualify as "recognizing in my body that I am emotionally numb", as I didn't feel my body.

Take care,

A.

Hey,

When I felt as what I described previously, I did not feel hunger, and it felt weird to swallow food.

Now, however, I eat normally...well, actually I am kind of obsessed with my eating routine, and from what we've been talking at chatroom, I'd say food intake control seem to be a thing with a number of people. It is not strange, though, perhaps it compensate for the lack of control over some other things.

How about you?

Well, it seems that eating balanced and healthy diet is quite important when you feel DP, because sometimes your body does not recognize its needs, at least that's what I figured out about myself. It is ok to eat less, just regularly, perhaps multiple small meals throughout the day.

People's experiences with alcohol in DP seem to be very different. One glass of wine is ok for me, it does not make me more or less DP. However, I tend to feel worse with intake of sugar, and alcohol contains sugar, so I kind of avoid both industrial sugar and alcohol. I understand what you say, though...I did feel that way when acutely DP, as if alcohol at least gave me reason for feeling so differently, and it did cover that numbness. It is just a temporary relief, however. And a lot of it cannot be good for you.
