Has anybody managed to wean themselves of Effexor XR succesfully? I was taking 150mg then reduced it to 75mg then to 37.5mg. Maybe I reduced the dosage to quickly?? I managed to do this in about three weeks. This is when the DR Started. It's been three months now and I am getting to the point where I am really struggling. I have heared reports that small doses of Fluoxetine help and that's it a lot easier to wean off??
any advice would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks.

I think it's starting to become quite well know that Effexor XR has a pretty savage withdrawal profile. From my own experience (and others on here - GFUNK springs to mind) have had real trouble withdrawing from Effexor. I was on 75mg, and tried to cut down to 35mg, then to nothing over two weeks. Boy, did I feel terrible. What I did was transfer over to Cipramil, which in the past I've had no problems withdrawing from at all, and that sorted it.

I'm not compltely dissing Effexor, because of all the anti-depressants I've been on, it was up there as probably the most effective. However, it is probably the most 'stimulating' of them all, which is why I decided to jack it in. I felt a bit too hyper on it.
