Anybody here find that their meds make them sooooo tired...........

Sorry, just dropped off again....

I need approximately 11 hours of sleep. And it is lucid dreaming sleep that tires me out even more!!!

What kind of things can anyone suggest - any supplements/foods/drugs/exercise that will give me a kick up the arse!!!

Cheers

same here,

regarding the lucid and "freaky" dreams, i'm taking my 20mg Paxil right after i wake up and the dreams are much normal now.

taking an SSRI in the evening\night seems to drive your dreams crazy.

Could you guys manage without drugs?

I've had betablockers, which aren't psychoactives, they just stop the adrenalin.

Sometimes I've been climbing the walls with anxiety, or depression, or just convinced I'd finally lost the plot and was heading for Shady Acres, and would happily have swapped everything for a tablet to make it all go away.

But some of the things I've read make it seem like that replace one set of problems with another.

I'm not having a go at anyone's choice - if you feel comfortable with drugs then definately take them - I'm just curious.

i tried beta blockers years ago. They do basically only tackle the adrenalin which unfortunately wasn't enough for me! Efexor works for me, to a point where I feel better, then the side effects outweigh the positives and then I come off them.
I just didn't think I would need them again so soon!!!

So I don't mean to moan, the drugs work wonders, just wondered if anybody knew how to get going in the morning!!

What symptoms have/had you been having?

I don't mean to pry. I'm just struggling to come up with a base with which to compare so I know how I feel...it's almost like I don't have a reference point anymore. Although obviously when I feel bad I know it, and I can acknowledge when I feel 'OK'. It's the in between bits that get me.

I know exactly what you mean, where symptoms begin and end. Basically, as long as you are monitoring it, then you're still in symptom mode...

I have DP/anxiety/obsessive worrying. It's episodic, like I'm fine for months or even years, then it hits at important turning points in my life. The dp stuff is horrific, like I am about to disappear.

I'd rather sleep all day than have DP. It's a lesser of two evils

You're on a fairly high dose of Effexor XR, G-funk. At your dose, its very common for the Effexor to mess with your sleep/wake cycle. I know someone who slept 18 hrs a day on Effexor. Its a wild card drug. Its chemical, Venlafexine, affects serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine, and the mechanism for doing so is unknown. Be careful with it. If you are having lucid dreaming, then dont take any supplements with it, like 5htp. You can still take B-vitamins if you wish. You may want to have it lowered a hair, or at least take it earlier in the day.

Peace

It's not XR, its the normal stuff. That can be prescribed up to 350 it says on the packet. Does this make a difference?

Also, apparently the norepeinpherineepenhienrerpe or whatever its called  apparently is only triggered at higher doses?

I didn't read this entire thread but just wanted to add for the record that in those horrible days when i was taking ssris, effexor made me feel exhausted most of the time. I only took it for a week or two until i stopped. It did nothing but turn me into a zombie.

Like I just posted in another thread, I've tried many different meds. Right now I am on 50 mg of Zoloft and I take a multi-vitamin everyday. Honestly, I hate meds and feel that they screw us up more than they help us.

And yes, I could sleep and sleep and sleep and sleep, but try not too. I try to keep my sleep as consistent as possible. I try not to take too many naps and try to keep my sleep as consistent as possible, especially during the week. But if someone said I couldn't sleep for two days straight, I bet I would prove them wrong!!
