Does anybody have any visual disturbances on their meds? Especially Effexor? I don't mean dr type distortions, I mean actual blurred patches. Like when you look at a bright light and then look away and it leaves a print that takes a while to fade, but until then, that patch is like a blind spot? I've had it briefly before and I think it is like how migraines affect people. This is scaring me though because a minute ago, I couldnt actually see what I was typing because the blurry patch moved into my central vision. Now its peripheral. Making me feel panicky!

I used to work for an eye doctor. That is completly normal when you look at a light then see a bright spot when you look away. Sometimes it's lasts a couple seconds, some people it lasts a couple minutes. It happens to me all the time, but as a child I loved it so I did it all the time. If you close your eyes and look at the "light" spot, it will start to move. It's fun, as a child, to follow it. I used to walk around the house with my eyes close and my dad would laugh at me.

I would go to the doctor if it gets bad enough that it is interupting your daily life. It should only last a little bit. Usually the Effexor doesn't have anything to do with it, I'm on it too. But if it's too bad go see an eye doctor. An eye doctor should help you better then a MD.

Hey g-funk,

I am on effexor as well and you should note that this medication causes your pupils to dilate (be larger than normal) hence you will be more susceptible to any light source, I truly wouldnt worry about it.

Also, if you suffer from anxiety (which I do) then your senses are on a heightened state of alert anyway, hence you are more susceptible to noticing things that will have been there in the first place anyway, it's just that with this disease we tend to overanalyse/obsess about things that really wouldn't bother us in a normal everyday life.
