Ask yourself this:

"What's worse.. a minor headache and cramps for 20 minutes from first time reaction to meds, or a lifetime of panic and DP?"

I took 225 mg/daily. Didn't do anything for my depression or anxiety. But that's just me. Different meds work for different people. Just FYI, Effexor is infamous for its withdrawal profile (even worse than Paxil) so taper slowly if you find that you are sensitive to withdrawal.

yer ur ment to slowly go off of it. its actualy very dangerous with some meds to just stop taking them, mum did that and had blackouts and stuff was realy bad.

how r u ment to slowly stop taking them though if ur taking one 75mg pill a day?

you could ask your doc if it comes in smaller doses. if not maybe a pill cutter

Hi will6

I've been on Effoxor XR for about 7 months, I take 225mg's daily..cant say I have any side effects (besides a minor sexual type one) although when tapering on I had some unpleasant days. I have no idea if it is the Effexor or the Clonazapam that has helped me (started them at the same time)

I can tell you that if I miss just one dose I get major withdrawl "zaps", but everyone's different and so everyone reacts differently to different drugs.

P.S to go down to 37.5mg's just split the capsule and and halve the contents.

Hi ShaneSutherly

I really have no idea what the Effexor does to me, I know the Clonazapam worked in like a couple of weeks but as for the Effexor...I dont know.. I've never had depression, just anxiety, It took me 3 months to get to 225mg's and I dont know if it's Effexor that is helping or both..but I am definatly better since going on them.

I tried 5 ant-dep's before Effexor..they all sucked.

Sorry I cant be of any more help to you.

Alex

Hello Will,

I've been on Effexor xr for a year now. Started at 37.5 for a week and went up to 150. My only side effect for the first week was nausea, but it disappeared pretty quickly.
I have to say that it did not do much for my dp but it help quite a bit
with the anxiety.

Good luck,

Dee

I'm on Effexor and it's really helped me. I do get a few side effects if I miss a dose but nothing compared to the dp and anxiety I was experiencing. Just make sure you take the doses regularly and taper off really slowly.
Good Luck!

I'm currently on 75mg of Effexor for my.....er.....well, the clinical diagnosis is GAD, but I beg to differ. Anyhow, it seems to be more effective at reducing the 'risk' of panic attacks (my major psychopathalogical problem) than any other SSRI I've been on. However, it also, for me, is the hardest to wean off. I 'cold turkied' Celexa with no problems whatsoever, but if I miss a day of Effexor I feel like I've got the flu.
