No, pdr. Sorry.

You are not included in the "you all." These are the psychological defense mechanism induced DP people, as opposed to (sweet) Janine's "drug induced DP people." I am responding to the implication that no such thing (drug induced DP) exists. To suggest this is fine; to accept it as given is not.

The polarity here is I'm sure rhetorical and needless, but the fact is that rec drugs (and the same few rec drugs) always appear in any recent and real DP research. I can't dismiss this (as I can't dismiss my personal experience) as somehow incidental to the "real" cause of DP.

Also (and I guess I do have a little debate left in me after all  :) ) Does any survey of a population of people with phobic disorders, stress disorders, depressive disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders, personality disorders, anxiety disorders, etc., come up with the same numbers of people who attribute the onset of their distress specifically to recreational drugs? And if so, do the majority of these people point, specifically, to marijuana? If not, then this is something to explore, not to dismiss, believe it or not.

Just thought I should add that a recent study by Daphne Simeon et al found there is no difference between drug-induced DP and non-drug-induced DP and so they suggest they should be treated (meds/therapy) the same.

Of course Uni-girl and the good Dr. S are right. The idea of drug induced DP is long long way from the idea of a drug cure for DP

But still I can't exclude this as a possiblity, if indeed it is possible that this DP can be instigated primarily through biochemistry rather than psychology.

But it would be nonsense to wait for my pill and ignore what is and must be the front-line offense, the one we know can work-- finding some kind of efficacious therapy with some talented therapist, albeit assited by some chemistry.

[One last edit and then I?ll shut up. Re-reading this thread (and compulsively sprucing up my prose) I think: when I get a little worked up rhetorically I am probably (usually? always?) missing some point, inventing some straw-man for some self-serving reason. It is distressing but I think it is true, and has been true, for years and years. Or perhaps, from some post-structuralist or deconstructive point of view, this kind of distortion is inherent in any kind of argument. (Jesus, settle down Beavis.) ]

Dalai, I don't think there is ANY difference in drug-induced dp. I wasn't clear, maybe. I was just using the phrase "Drug-induced dp" because everyone else uses it, lol

DP is DP. Anxiety is anxiety. Sometimes the ONSET of those symptoms can begin during or shortly after drug use. But they can also begin from a million other stimulus.

I am adamant that rec drugs do not DO anything to the brain to cause dp anymore than could have happened to someone else without a drug.

Peace,
Janine
