I know you are probably going to think this is not of any help, but the way I drive is just to say "damn, things looks so wierd" and keep driving. I guess if I had not adopted this attitude long ago I would have become agoraphobic by now. It was my only way to get out and be around people...make my doctor appointments, and get better. Things still look wierd, some days worse than others, but I still get out there.

I hope you are able to do it as much as you can. I think, in the long run, it helps keep you connected.

Its strange, because I have just driven home in the dark this evening and it popped into my head - about what a weird experience driving while dissociating is.
Its not a new awarenwss of course, and my conclusion also, like terri was that I acknowledge it and carry on. But Ive always felt its like driving a video game, all dazzle and shine and disconection...

I can completely relate to what you are saying. Even though you know you have driven wherever you are going before everything seems to look new and unfamiliar. I have horrible fears of getting lost. This sucks.

Berlin, that is exactly what it is like. EXACTLY. Almost like you're inside a pinball machine. Crazy.

I can relate to this. This is when my dr is at it's worst. I can be driving up the road and everything seems so surreal. It feels as If I have no idea where I am. This then brings on a huge panic attack. The only way I have found to cope with it is to say " So what, big deal, and just carry on."
