Hi all ,

according to this link http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21087873 it says that DP might due to a a fronto-limbic suppressive mechanism.

arent there any medications/supplements or certain foods that fix this part of the brain ?

I mean if DP is caused by weed or intense anxiety ,then there should be something that reverses it.

I think many of you who have DP ,you sometimes notice that when you engage in something that requires your full attention ,you forget about this disorder ,but once you dont do anything ,it feels like your brain drags your attention back to it.There must be a way to fix this issue permanently.

An important thing to consider is that some people develop DP due to intense fasting ,with no anxiety involved. How can this be explained ? Is there a certain chemical than when in excess causes DP and when missing causes DP ?

That's a very good question. This thing is so elusive and hard to understand. I sometimes think that the solution is right in front of our eyes and that's why we haven't found it yet cause it's so simple lol
I believe that one day ,like they did in the past ,by chance found a pill supposed to cure something else will cure DP

It was found that in people who respond to Lamotrigine the fMRI returned to more normal patterns in these areas of the brain.

Regarding medications that affect this pattern I speculate that Topiramate might be one of to them. It was found in several studies to turn prefrontal areas underactive during cognitive tasks. However we don't know if it hits the "correct" areas, because it was never tested for depersonalization. Even if it worked the price would be a marked cognitive impairment.
