Hello!

I just joined the community, but have read a lot of topics and discussions in the past years. I have DP/DR for 4 years now and it has been a real struggle, but there have been also a lot of good days. At the moment I have high blood pressure and I feel really bad, of course DP/DR is also really bad.

My question is - does high blood pressure make your DP/DR a lot worse? Does your DP/DR cause you to feel off-balance?

DP/DR is thought to be a immobilisation response to treat, fear and anxiety where a fight and flight response cannot be mobilised. The immobilisation response is thought to be parasympathetic while a fight and flight response is sympathetic. This parasympathetic response is like trying to override a sympathetic activity. So, high blood pressure can be a symptom of sympathetic activity and DP will likely try to override this with more depersonalisation symptoms.
