Thanks! Interesting.

I posted some links about DP scale and DP article on Lamotrigine (2004) but I don't know where they are :)

There was a gentleman on here some time ago who had gotten his DP from a horseriding accident. Eventhough it was brain trauma related, he says he is DP free now from using Lamictal and Anafranil together. I found that very interesting. I mean, these are the only two medicines which showed any substantial improvement, but he was the only person I've read of on here who combined the two - and guess what? He claims a complete recovery. I've often wondered why more people on here dont combine the two. Unfortunately, though, I think many people with DP end up obsessing over why they shouldnt take any meds, and this may be why although we talk often about the DP units, we usually dont take their advice.

Peace

It seems that 99% of the things we read are stories about people unable to recover from DP and/or having trouble recovering. That is why I wonder why I come to this site. I always think I'm going to get answers of how to get better. But most of this stuff on here is negative.

The thing I have always been trying to figure out is if I have DP as a symptom of depression/anxiety or if my anxiety and depression is caused by DP. Its kinna like the chicken or the egg theory...what came first?
Maybe it doesn't even matter. But if getting back to the source is the answer to getting better, I should try to figure this out. All I know is that the depression and DP are getting to a point where I don't know how much longer I can live.

Kelson what meds if any are you on? I found out my dp came from anxiety, and once I took medication to help it, the dp faded away. So if you can get your anxiety and depression under control, you'll know if that is whats causing the dp.

Shane,

Thanks for the reply. I'm on Zoloft at the moment. It seemed to help really well in the past as I had a great last Spring and Summer, but I had to get off of it in July/August because I had to stop seeing my psych. cause she went to inpatient care only. But I just started up with a new psych last month and a new psychologist as well. I've been back on the Zoloft for about a month. I saw some improvement last week and weekend, but then crashed again this week. But my psych said it is normal as the Zoloft and the brain just need some time to adjust. I am up to 150mg, so I hope to see some change soon!
Take care.

Rula,

No it's a 2004 submitted article on how Lamotrigine help more than 40 % of patients with a antidepressant. It's very useful in combinaison with a AD.

More and more people here says it's helpful :)

Kelson, i do know several people who have recovered. but yes, the stuff on this site tends to be mostly negative cuz the ppl who recover leave. it's their way to full recovery, kinda sucks for the rest of us, but it's understandable. but there are still posts like "my dp is fading" (and i'm leaving the site. ^_^) that give me hope.

All I know is that the depression and DP are getting to a point where I don't know how much longer I can live.
sometimes when SSRI's "poop out" they switch you to another one, maybe getting back on Zoloft wasn't the best thing for you? or maybe you just need a few more weeks. sorry you're feeling so bad.

Kelson -one thing I have noticed that when in a negative state of mind , people can only notice the negative aspects of life.

When I first found out about dp, I did the usual google search etc. I read all the stories, all about how it is a life sentence. Now, in a different frame of mind, I swear the exact same research appears in a different light.

It is true, like rula says, people who recover move on. It is people who are interested in the subject or people who like to help(or feel they can) who stick around to give their point of view. Don't be disheartened by negative stories, I promise you, I felt the same as you, that everything I read held no hope. It is not the case, believe me because it is not the case.
