ive noticed and im aware of the fact that ive always wanted everything done this instant...

coming off meds- im tapering this time but i want to get off of them NOW
losing weight - im currently on yet another diet and when i lose 2 pound in a week (reccommended) im dissapointed and i want to lose 8 poubd in a week,so i get mad then throw in the towel

jobs like painting a room- i rush and rush and rush, rather than spending time getting it prepared properly i go non stop day and night until the jobs done

i seem to be like this in every area of my life its like a bug in my brain telling me i cant rest until the task is done ....

the question is ?

should i try and stop this behaviour,or accept that this sort of thing is going to send me to an early grave

oh how i wish i was laid back

oh my god I relate so well

I NEVER prepare a room for painting. I never put masking tape on the skirting boards, window frames or remove light switches. I go buy paint, get the brush and slap it on without moving the furniture or covering it, then chuck the paint brush/roller and tray in the bin when im done so I dont have to wash it. I am SO impatient.

It is definitely part of the personality profile we all seem to share!!!

Normally I'm actually a very laid-back bordering on apathetic person, except when the anxiety hits, then everything must been done THIS VERY MINUTE! Not so good, but I have discovered when I'm feeling anxious is a great time for me to get started on papers, I just have to make sure to check them over again when the anxiety passes, lol.

Yes, definately.

I'm also doing the weightloss thing but if I haven't dropped 2lb's in a day  I get really fed up and annoyed with myself. Which isn't any use to me, but there you go.

sweeties, i have anxiety AND ADD.

now is not soon enough for me. and if you want me to be happy you must be able to read my mind... no scratch that.. you must be able to know what i want BEFORE i want it.

just ask Gavin. this makes him absolutely nuts!!

another thing i do is several different things at once because i cant focus on one thing at a time. like for intance if im chatting with my husband, im also posting on here, downloading music, checking out 3 different entertainment sites, reading online news, etc. ive usually got 10 to 15 screens going at once. add RLS to the mix and you have a sceen that isnt very pretty.

I agree with all of what is said above me AND if something needs to be done and I don't feel like I will see results right away sometimes I won't do it at all. I also enjoy multitasking and most of the time I think I can get more done within the same block of time than is humanly possible. This is something I had no clue was anxiety-related.

I don't know that it is related to "anxiety," which is normally not energizing but debilitating.

I think you all are talking about wanting to get to the goal of feeling good about yourself because you accomplished a major task. Because you want the "fix" of the endorphins that comes from completing a task that has a major impact on your life, you run at full speed to the goal so that you can receive the reward of feeling good about what you did that much sooner.

Anxiety itself -- at least in the sense it is used on this forum to refer to fear and the sense of impending doom -- usually doesn't make people want to paint rooms!

Yes... the reason I still don't have Janine's books. I want to just go to the store and buy them I don't want to order them online.

I decided I wanted a cat one day. I tried going to a shelter to adopt one. The lady asked me a bunch of questions and then told me to go somewhere else. I looked in the newspaper and called all the people that had cats for sale. They were all bought already! I had my boyfriend drive me to pet store after pet store.... there were no cats!! It was crazy. Then finally we stopped at this pet store that had one cat left. Right away I said I'll take it. And so I say it was fate... that Chloe and I ended up together... although others may view it as a result of some sort of obsessive/compulsive episode.
