do you have DP in conjunction with anxiety?

Just wondering out of interest how many people have DP as part of an anxiety disorder and how many people just have it on its own?

If it is part of an anxiety disorder it would surely make sense that if the anxiety was dealt with then the DP would subside.

No real reason for posting this, just wondered out of interest!

I suffer greatly from generalized anxiety (GAD) along with DP. I had my first anxiety attack after smoking pot and it was a short time later that the DP and ruminations followed.

The onset of the DP shortly after the anxiety leads me to think it was a protection mechanism which came into play during the time I was attempting to rationalize the what was happening to my body. At this time I had no idea that I was suffering from extreme anxiety, or even what anxiety was. All I knew is that it felt like I was dying day after day.

For me the anxiety disorder and the DP go hand in hand. When the anxiety subsides, so does the DP and all related symptoms.
