I had a buncha bloodwork done last Friday 9/23, and besides cholesterol being elevated, my DHEA sulfate is really, really low. From what I get, its a natural steroid in our body and when its low can cause depression, anxiety, joint pain, less feeling of coping, and some other physical stuff I can't recall at the moment..but it's a long list.
I almost cried when I heard it was low and what it can cause and/or/ aggravate. I guess I felt validated in some way. I know or lat least think I know that I will continue to need psych meds..But..anyway.
I have asthma and have been on 2 types inhalers a long long time--one a broncho-dilator type the other a steroid type. A nurse friend told me and I read online too, that using an inhaled steroid over time will make your body think it has enuf DHEA type stuff, and so it will start to produce less and less.
Guys and girls, I been in absolute hell many, many months acutely, and have had a milder form of phobias, anxiety, depression in a chronic way for years. I see the doctor who will explain my results on the 7th--a week away--Has anyone ever had their DHEA tested or anybody ever hear of these symptoms happening when it is very low? Thanks,
