I've had derealization and depersonalization for the last 9 years after suffering a traumatic brain injury with no break. Now, here's a problem I'm having. When I first got out of the hospital in 2005, I started stealing random things from random people. No one I knew personally, but nonetheless, stealing. Then I stopped. Then, when my best friend was in the psych ward in 2011, I started stealing from stores. Got caught. Did 3 weekends in jail. Then, after my girlfriend of two years broke up in 2013, I started stealing again. Just stuff from stores. Then all of a sudden, I stopped. Later that year, I had smoked marijuana for the first time and it let me back into the real world. When the marijuana stopped letting me back into the real world in December of 2013, I started stealing. Got caught, and was let go with a bond and on probation until my court date. After that, I started stealing again, but this time from cars and stores at night, by myself. I was caught again, put in jail for 4 days and then put on house arrest for 3 months. When I got off of house arrest in June of 2014, I got a job working as a server at a nearby country club. I began stealing again, and got caught, again. I'm not perfect, but this is very outside of my personality. My intention in this life was never to cause so many people pain. But when I would do it, it'd feel like I wasn't myself. Also, it seemed to be around the times in my life when I should feel sadness or depression. Has anyone else faced a similair problem or heard of anything similair? Help would be greatly appreciated.
