From accumulating info over a span of years and suffering for nearly two decades from Anxiety…OCD…Depression…Depersonalization and Dissociation….I think it’s safe to say ladies and gentleman…get hormones checked…your are not crazy nor are you a hypochondriac…in fact it is misinformation that is failing you..there are various reasons one dissociates, some voluntary,some not…you must trust this safety mechanism even when you feel like you can’t trust your mind…challenge your feelings…you are real…you are here…you’re made of matter…you matter…despite what your whack friends tell you…this is not a simulation…

I was gonna tell you my story…how i grew up in a loving environment although busy and chaotic…how I turned from an easy going …humble…creative soul into someone battling internal demons with no name…learned many lessons along the way…I’m gonna tell you how to get out of your head and your own personal hell right now….I’ve got a survival list for you to keep your head above water.

0.Correct your diet…you are what you eat it’s true/ Excercise or at least go for a walk.. both will help lower cortisol and boost metabolism…but in dealing with a taxed stress system be aware of your limits.
1.You need to understand how your bodys stress response works
2.Grounding/ various techniques to test your reaction to stress/ability to calm the system
3.Build healthy support system and seek help…connect with people…your effort reaching out on this forum is a great step

4.Medical help is essential…you may see a hundred diff doctors and acquire massive debt…but guess what the system is rigged and we are all screwed anyways.
5. Fight to to feel alive again…If step 4 fails you keep goin til you feel like yourself and don’t give up even if the world around you falls apart.. be persistent and confident..don’t be sporatic and delusional.. do the research so you can call a doctors bullshit when you need to…challenge everything til you are satisfied.
6. People will tell you that you’re a snowflake and you need to “suck it up…it’s your new norm”….well…tell them to stuff it up their f$&&ing assholes..do not accept being a victim..this is your fight..don’t be bullied.
7. You are a product of your genetics and environment..connect the dots…I was an anxious kid…creative…perfectionist…grew up during an innovative time on the cutting edge of technology but being a child of the 80s also gave me perspective of simpler times in history.
Flash Forward present day…my system is now burnt…modern society and culture has fried us…blah blah etc.

We have fried ourselves period..fried ourselves….you reading this now…your fried..ur brain is fried and you know what that’s okay…you are human…so let’s fix it.
8.Please get your hormones checked…when they tell you your adrenals are okay and your thyroid are okay…well then what’s up with my cortisol? Ask them how your hpa axis is working…..if that’s not it well maybe it’s a vestibular issue…allergies..or…maybe it’s a neurotransmitter issue…copper/ zinc imbalance…gut issues..electrolyte imbalance…..point is once again…be persistent and confident that somethings out of place and know that when you hit your baseline for normal again it will be as if nothing ever ailed you…you will know when balance is restored, it’s intuition…primal and Instinctive.

This rabbit hole goes very deep… I know all of you are sick of goin to the doctors office and being asked how you feel on a scale of 1 to 10….literally the McDonald’s of healthcare…I didn’t share a lot of my history in this post but if anybody needs help or guidance please lay it out on the table here…I will share anything and everything…I’ve suffered tremendously and do not want anybody else to feel the level of hopelessness I’ve experienced…the only way to find the way out is together.

Well, Im not gonna poo-poo everything you’re saying here. Of course not. However, not everybody is going to want to deal with doctors and their bullshit. Especially if it’s just neuroticism.

Depersonalization doesn’t have to be the result of something wrong with our bodies. I can get behind your message of confidence and to prioritize getting your shit together, but for some of us the problems are just all in our head. So what do you really need to do if there’s no physical setback with this, and it’s all mental? Nothing, right?

Depersonalization doesn’t have to be the result of something wrong with our bodies. I can get behind your message of confidence and to prioritize getting your shit together, but for some of us the problems are just all in our head. So what do you really need to do if there’s no physical setback with this, and it’s all mental? Nothing, right?
The fact that there is a mental factor and you are aware of it shows that a piece of you is missing…this is you looking in on yourself from the outside…if your are having mental issues there is disorder in the system…your body is not separate from your mind and don’t let anybody convince you otherwise.

It doesn’t mean there’s a piece of me missing, it means that I am hurt. My mind is fragmented, divided and contradictory. Mental issues is a symptom of a hurt and disorderly world, NOT my body.

Well you will know when a big enough piece is missing cause you will not be able to control your body…or your senses…it’s not all neurotransmitters and anxiety and depression there are physical ailments that will shutdown your mental process down…for example I had severe ear infections as a kid…I believe this played into issues I had with ocd…very elborate I won’t go into how everything’s connected but i will tell you…I struggled for decades with anxiety and just a couple years ago my chronic stress shut off…my body no longer had the means to feed the mental process..today I have zero stress and ocd is gone…I thought I was gonna be trapped in anxiety limbo til the end of my days..I can tell you now anxiety and dissociation is not the enemy ..like u said it is the world we are living in…if you feel fragmented that can be a very complicated subject either way your body and mind did it to protect you….I have theories on how to help but I am no doctor I just have just endoured enough mental affliction myself that I feel warranted to give advice…I have earned my right to share this war story.

It’s not about whether or not there is a piece missing. That’s just one way to look at it. There are numerous, almost limitless ways to approach why we suffer. You are approaching it through one way, one philosophy. But we don’t become like this just because of physical problems. It is the whole world that contains the same hurt that each and every one of us does. You can be free of the hurt, but that takes inward order. Mentally figuring it out for yourself.

I have experimented obsessively over a matter of decades…endless ruminating and scouring the Internet for answers..well..because the ocd I used to harness as an artist was turned against me…the ocd became a game of self injury not very different from what Ud see in a hellraiser movie just toned down abit…I blamed myself and I saw flaws in myself no one could see…it was body dysmorphia..that was another ailment that disappeared a couple years ago..when I say the ocd anxiety and dysmorphia went away I forgot to mention that this was because of an inner ear issue..something vestibular that I’ve yet to figure out..keep in mind it only been two years since this episode…anyways there was a full week where I felt very stuffy..thought It was allergies or sleep apnea…later that week I woke up one morning with a splitting headache and I was concussed mild ringing…mild disorientation new it was my bedroom I was in but my spacial memory was fucked….losing depth of spatial memory is one of the scariest things you will ever experience….but I also lost something else in this episode…my stress repsonse was blunted and lack of ability to channel emotion and tap into my adrenaline…it’s like you feel the power inside you but it’s locked up…anyways I’m rambling now but this is my struggle in a nutshell…I’m trying to decipher and create a solution like everyone else.

I will now get to the point and post what I feel may help this dp community…. Check your vitamin levels especially vitamin D for hormone regulation etc….make sure electrolytes and minerals are optimal….Vitamin C…..check zinc and copper balance…test hormones….I have been practically ignored by doctors trying to bring up hormones why the fuck is that?hmm suspicious…anyways…I’ve tried just about every damn supplement…I should snap a picture and show you my medicine cabinet it’s sad….In all this experimenting I stumbled upon L theanine and taurine….I’m advocating strongly for taurine here above all else since I’ve had the most success with it…I’ve yet to experiment with creatine…in a pickle niacin actually helped me tremendously in grounding when nothing else worked but still I knew it wasn’t the answer….the only thing I have not addressed that I believe is the missing piece for me is undermethylation…if you have not heard of this take note and get on it….so I have experimented with b vitamins and found my experience not very fruitful…one thing I have been diagnosed with is high liver enzymes and this is a whole other animal but I very much believe undermethylation and lack of folic acid is causing this…this is everything I’ve got for you guys so far…

I actually discovered what I now know was taurine one day when I was drinking a red bull…i went through every ingredient like a madman and treated it like an isolation experiment…ruled everything out…I’m telling you guys try taurine for depersonalization this is why you are all here looking at these fucking posts….ironically enough…there is another post if not more about the same experience with Red Bull…is it a coincidence I don’t know…I’m praying this helps….I’m guessing the explanation for why taurine works is why it’s appropriately placed in a stimulating drink…if your brain is being over stimulated ..ur nervous system is being overstimulated in theory taurine may be the catalyst for some relief.

I realy love your story and what you are telling. And I totaly agree with you. I know for sure it is also something with the hormones...even when you are going to a doctor...and they are saying....ooh you don't have to let your hormones checked....because I had an bloodtest for vitamins etc etc...they were telling me that everything was ok...I checked myself in the results and I saw lots of things were very very low....and they didn't tell me.
Also I had very very difficult times and ocd, depression, anxiety on a high level...dissociation...and still sometimes...
It is not without an reason that we are feeling this way.. every month it's the same thing with me....I am feeling fake, not here, deep deep thoughts...you all know what I am talking about.
When my body is feeling more anxious or stressful...I notice that the depersonalisation is getting worse...and also the thoughts...
So now I am trying to say mantra's everyday... doing everything what I was doing....working, going to the gym, riding a car ( because I was to scared at one point... )
People I got you...this is realy s... and a feeling you cannot explain to somebody when they didn't experience this.

And YES we did it to ourselves!!! I totaly agree...same thing when you are mad at somebody ....it is not their fault...sometimes you are the one that is feeling this way.

I think we all deep down want that it has something to do with our bodies, like hormones etc so it's easier to tackle. Of course severe prolonged stress does things to the body, and in some cases a physical ailment is the cause for dp/dr. But overall it's 100% psychological, living a healthy life is always the way to go working out etc eating healthy no alcohol or drugs. I did all those things very disciplined, and yet I was still Depersonalized,because my soul is hurt.

I think we all deep down want that it has something to do with our bodies, like hormones etc so it's easier to tackle. I did all those things very disciplined, and yet I was still Depersonalized,because my soul is hurt.
Yes I think also... yes many years of stress..hurt, sad.. your body can handle a lot but there will be a point that you will have a breakdown. My soul is also hurt...very... I am also eating healthy, no drugs, no alcohol...I never drink,. and same thing here. Still depersonalisation etc..

So conclusion, it's almost 99% not a physical cause. En ik zie dat je Nederlands bent haha. :p

Has anybody had success with Methylfolate or folinic acid…not to be confused with regular folic acid?…..I just ordered folinic acid because I didn’t have luck with Methylfolate for whatever reason…would love to hear your thoughts on this.

I have already shared a little bit of my history with ear infections(had tubes)and I’m not sure if I mentioned my sinus issues… but I have a few family members who had to have nasal surgery to open up airways…I had my adenoids removed…you may ask what the hell does this have to do with anything and trust me I don’t want to send you all off on a tangent…but here me out…turbinate issues came back for me…along with Eustachian tube dysfucntion…some would say a type of glue ear…before i knew this was affecting me in present day…I was worried I had narcolepsy or MS Parkinson’s etc..some weird shit was happening….then I went to ENT and found out my turbinates are severely swollen again…this will not be a factor for you all but everybody deals with inflammation differently…allergens..infections etc…so the turbinates are significant because u have a sinus cycle that is connected to your nervous system…they filter air and it plays into immune response etc…I won’t ramble forever about it but I’m suggesting everyone pay attention to their vestibular system as well as sinus, olfactory and optical function…pay attention on how you are processing information…amongst these issues there are simple things like vestibular migraines that can cause Dp or dissociation.

Actually I’m not new to this…I’m 36 and have been dealing with this for decades
