sorry to clog this part of the notice board up with cannabis-related dp but it seems to be the most 'happening' part of the site.

ive smoked on and off for the best part of ten years. the last year has been particularly heavy after befriending and living with those sort of people.

just over two weeks ago i experienced a very intense DP experience after a strong joint. since then things just havent the same. im showing no outward signs of effects but my perception of things is that everything feels slightly surreal. im suffering no loss of memory and dont feel mentally impaired. its as if im stuck under water but feeling very alert.
could it be the THC clogging my system after a long spell of ingestion or have i triggered something off??

any suggestions would be very helpful. im concerned im stuck with this feeling

peace

That's exactly how I felt after heavy cannabis use. It's DR, Derealisation, that you are experiencing. Check out the rest of the drug induced threads (cannabis is a very common trigger, so you're not alone) for help and advice.

Incidently, I recovered...so don't lose hope.

Since THC does not disolve in water and resigns in the fat of your body, it can be months and months before it will be completely out of your system(if you smoked for 10 years before). So if your dp is THC related it will most probably pass within a few months and you will be back to normal again.

Just because DP is triggered by marijuana, it does in no way mean that the DP will disappear once the marijauna leaves the system. As DP is a common symptom experienced during a usual high, it does generally go away after the high is gone. But, but but but, there are instances on this site where the user has smoked marijuana under ten times and the symptom of DP or DR has lasted years. I don't want to scare anyone but I do want to be realistic. It is important to note that for some, DP and DR go away after a few months.
