My friend had DP for several years. He tried SSRI's, Benzo etc and nothing worked. One night his new girlfriend told him that he was snoring. She told him to get checked for sleep apnea.

He went to the doctor and indeed he had sleep apnea. He received a sleep apnea machine and 4 months later, BOOOOM DP completely gone.

Having sleep apnea for 30 years without doing anything about is not very good for the brain. It's quite obvious that the brain will have enough eventually after 30 years of not getting enough rest.

I agree that poor sleep is involved. But then inflammation, chemical imbalance, negative thoughts, cortisol, stress, anxiety etc etc also are. It all affects the next thing. My sleep is improving recently, yet to have a major break through on the DP. But it is helping mood and energy so onwards and upwards
