Of course it is a mental illness.........To say its not is absolutley ridiculous....Yes at the heart of it are physical brain chemistry issues but that is what defines mental ill health in the first place....
Can it be passed down through generations...Who knows to be honest...Maybe, maybe not....It requires alot of genetic research over time...
Doctors and shrinks will always ask you if there is a history of mental ill health in your family....So maybe there is a genetic link in their eyes...
