I've been getting new very strong symptoms, just occasionally, but they freak me out when they do happen. I think I've seen people on here talking about 'brain zaps' when coming off prescription drugs, I seem to be having them without having taken/stopped taking anything. It feels like someone's just put a wire in each side of my head and is playing with a battery. Also have for the past few months been suddenly completely without balance and the world tips sideways, not looks like it does, but completely, visually, physically. I can't stand up when it happens.

Both of these have happened very rarely, maybe 5 times in total, but they are worrying me a bit. They aren't as frightening as the more 'normal' dp stuff was when it started, but I sort of feel I should go to my doctor, check it's nothing else. I don't know though. Does anyone else have this kind of thing? Should I just get on with it and they'll go away? I was going to have driving lessons sometime this year, but I think that sort of thing would probably be dangerous, however rare these things are they are incapacitating.

Doesnt sound unusual to me. I had the same type of things, still do from time to time. When you feel the tilting how long does it last?

You do? That's reassuring. I just hadn't heard many people here talk about such physical things. The tilting thing is probably about 5 seconds. Then I feel pretty sick for a while after.

I keep missing things too, that people say. Like whole sentences, or I haven't known that someone has been calling my name. Like time just jumps.

Something's getting worse. I don't feel as if I can walk, I always seem to be zooming backwards. I'm not scared in the way I was back in the early days of dp/dr, I just seem to be getting weirder and weirder. I keep jumping or jerking or itching, and I see insects and spiders out of the corner of my eyes again. But most of the time I can hold a conversation perfectly well and stuff, and I do manage to walk, even if conversations have bits missed and I'm getting places slowly. Well actually sometimes I can't. At the supermarket I was about ten minutes at the till because I couldn't work out what I was doing, it took me so long to talk and I kept stopping and forgetting. I'm just not sure what's happening and why it's so sudden. I keep staring at things for hours. Is this really still dp?

Could it be dp & stress maybe? It seems all so strong, but I have had two very stressful things to think about over the past couple of weeks. Normally real events don't bother me much, but these were things that had to.

If I go to my doctor she'll just refer me to the man who says 'Oh you've taken LSD, you're having flashbacks' anyway.

Why am I posting this? There's no particular answer anyone can give really is there? I suppose I just feel like talking about it, and there aren't many people you can say that to.

oh dear, i'm 3/4 of the people replying to me, but I'm really breaking up and not sure what to do

i'm getting electric shocks all over my body, in my feet and my hand, it almost hurts, it's really scary feeling, and my skin is hypersensitive. i've got goosebumps all over and when my hair touches my neck it tickles in a really unpleasant way. this is really weird. i guess it's mental, of course it is.

must. go. to. bed.

sorry, I'm being very boring

Beth you're not being boring.

How long has this been going on? What medication are you on? Have you got any other health complications?

Thanks for replying.

No medication, no other health complications. All summer the tilting thing and the getting more detached, but just two days of real weirdness and electric shocks. I just woke up feeling completely normal though. Maybe it's gone. I might go make a doctor's appointment anyway, just for reassurance.
