I know, don't think I'm nuts, but this is absolutely fascinating.

This is the Final Report Of The National Commission On Terrorist Attacks Upon The United States Make sure you ask for the Official report. There is another book by a NY journalist who covered the hearings. You want the authorized edition, with tons of footnotes, etc.

It is moving, terrifying, informative.

There are discussions of everything from details of the airplane hijackings, to the reaction of the government (a nightmare of disorganization), to how the NYPD, and NYFD bravely responded. What happened in the WTC ... what saved lived/hindered evacuation. What we need to do re: domestic and foreign policy.

But what is most fascinating is a history of Al-Quaeda going back to the 1980s. The thing is amazingly an easy read, and you can jump around in the book to read about what's of interest to you.

Some of it will scare the Hell out of you (especially Americans), but it an important book to have a look at. Why Bin Laden wants ALL Americans dead, etc. Why we invaded Iraq, etc., etc.

Just another POV, but a document that truly reflects one of the most important events in U.S. history, if not the very turning point of U.S. history.

It is NOT a boring read at all. And it is not pro-American propaganda. The history of the Middle East and the Muslim religion and Al Quaeda is fascinating.

Best,
D
