hi there people...

i have posted in a veeeeeeeeeeeeeery long time and thought i would give those of you who may wonder what i have been up to and update...

as far as the dp and dr go...it is still as bad as it has been...still all day every day...dispite all my efforts of focusing outward...

i still work as a charity shop volenteer...

i have engaged in more hobbies...

i go out the house a little more for a longer period of time...

have even socialised a little...

been FAR more healthy and had moer exercise...

i know it does not sound much...but all this has been hard work...and so far...nothing has changed in how i feel...to be honest i hardly think about dp or dr anymore...just try and do things through the day but everything just still feels wrong...the dp and dr just refuse to lift right now...

i also had to take a trip to the Reumatologist at the hospital (which was yesturday)...

seems i have a mild case of something called 'pain syndrome' which means i feel pain in general more than a 'normal' person would...i have hypersensitive pain receptors which are over active all the time...which is heightened by the fact i have a panic disorder as my body and mind are on alert all the time!

i also have hyperextendable joints which cause my joints to bend in ways they should not, past their 'natural boundry'...for example my elbow joints bend back in the other direction further than they should...and because of the pain syndrome, i feel more pain than a 'normal' person would with these kind of joints!

and every joint in my body is hyperextendable with hypersensitive pain receptors so no wonder why i bloody hurt so much!

so i have had a blood test that lasted nearly 10 minutes to get 6 vials of blood out of me...

i have been told that not much can be done for me other than just be careful...keep healthy...and i am going to have some physiotherapy sessions to see if that helps...other than that...just got to do what i can with having it...

as for the pain...the only thing i can really do is take pain killers...which i cannot do as i get allergic reactions!

i have had joint troubles since i was about 10 years old and all i was told is that it was growning pains...even when i told the doctor again at 14 and 15 years old that it was getting worse they did nothing...

now i am 20 and all my joints crack and hurt and ache...

ok i know that not much could have been done as nothing much can be done for me now with this...but i could have had physio at an earlier age and that might have stopped it progressing...

ah well...life goes on :) should not moan really...there are worse things in this world...

it is just so odd having conflicting feelings of numbness and pain all the time...

well that is me for now...take care people...

i do still come and read what is going on here when i can and my best wishes are with you all...:)

That's interesting - last time I was at the Kings College DP research place they tested me for joint hypermobility, as they had apparently found a correlation between it and DP/DR in a community in Spain. They were testing for a hypermobility gene. Don't know if anything came of it. My blood test came back negative.
