Hello. I am currently recovering from depersonalization that started about 26 months ago that was triggered by me smoking weed. It was really intense for about a year and a half, but I have noticed it has gotten better. I am still really depressed, but before I got depersonalization I always wanted to do acid. I still want to and it makes me really depressed to think that I might not ever be able to because it might trigger my depersonalization to come back even worse. But I have also heard that for some people with dp it can help. I really want to try it, any thoughts on if it's a terrible idea or not?

I would rather put a gun in my mouth and blow my head off....There would be no suffering that way....Now you may be a one in a million and taking LSD while having DP might just be a good experience....Likeleehood is you are one of the other 999,999 who will f**k themselves up permanently by taking LSD while suffering from DP

Not trying to be sarcastic or disrespectful or anything, but it boggles my mind how many people post this kind of stuff. At least half this forum is permanently scarred in some way from drugs and yet somehow people still keep going back to them. If there's anything bit of advice I could pass on to someone with DP or who may get DP in the future it's to stay as far away from drugs as humanly possible.

Here here!!!

Oh and its probably alot more than half the forum.....Im guessing about 80% (maybe more) of the people on here are f****d up from using mind altering illegal drugs...

I see absolutely nothing positive about illegal drug use of any kind....Even if it doesnt make your DP worse you are gonna end up dealing with addiction (Guaranteed !!!!)

In fact in a way DP is a blessing in disguise for all of us on here...We would probably all be weed burnouts now had DP not scared us off drugs...I know I would have been...

God works in mysterious ways!!!

Common sense is not so common.

I took LSD quite frequently in my early 20s. While it didn't trigger my dp/dr I believe it changed me in a way that made me capable of eventually triggering it.

I know a lot of people suggest shrooms as a magical cure all for emotional problems but I believe these people are simply too stupid to be affected by it in a negative way, they rarely experience the weirdness, existential dread and dissociation these drugs can cause.

In the end you will do what you want, and I clearly have a personal negative bias against these drugs, but I would at least urge you to try to get better first before becoming a psychonaut exploring the unknown.
