LEDs to the rescue! I have rewired and replaced all the flourescent fixtures in my house. I now have LED tubes which will last my lifetime, generate almost no heat, and beam beautiful white light into my living areas. I also replaced all incandescent bulbs with LED bulbs. I use less than 25% of the electricity I previously used for lighting. And yes, flourescent lighting in box stores induced quite a few panic attacks in my time. I expect in 20 years, flourescent will be totally replaced by LEDs. Isn't technology wonderful!
