A few weeks ago I again switched to a new med called Cymbalta (it's the fifth anti-depressant Ive been on in the last 3 years). I am not as educated on these things as some of you, but the doctor I saw said it was a new med that, unlike SSRIs, affects all the chemicals in your brain rather than just one. I am happy to say after several weeks on this new med, I am feeling a lot better--less depressed, not as many suicidal thoughts, and more energy, and best of all, my dp/dr has gotten better. It's the first med I believe that is really working. Anyone else know anyhting about it? It's in the same category as Effexor.

Right now I am really worrying that it's all in my head, that it really doesn't work, that one day I will wake up back in the hell I've been going through the last 6 months. It feels too good to be true that a drug is working b/c none of the other ones I was on really affected me for the better.

I've been on it for about 3 months now and I too feel so much better than with the other meds I've tried. I have more energy and am way less depressed as well. HOWEVER, its done absolutely NOTHING for the out-of-body sensation that is depersonalization. This is something I feel as strongly as ever, though not necessarily moreso, but my dp is completely UNAFFECTED by this drug. I would LOVE to try some of the other drugs in trial for dp along with Cymbalta to see if those help at all.
